shot a 82 yesterday, kinda happy but got off to a slow start 45-37. tee to green was great but my short game wasn't there for me to get into the 70's(34 putts 3/10 up and down). all in alli'm happy after coming off a pretty bad month where my 4 rounds were 84,98,93,92. so i guess i'm happy i spent some extra time at the range. now i need to get my handicapp down. whats an average handicapp for someone who shoots in the low 80's?

shot a 49. started off birdie, par... then went downhill. Really messed up on 3 and 4 but overall pretty happy. My second time out after a four year hiatus and I never shot better than 90 before that so i can't complain.

43-43=86 yesterday. Just too many mistakes. 4th round in a row I'm chunking my 8i. I guess I'm dipping my shoulder, but have no idea why, OR how to correct it......it's very frusterating to say the least!

Shot 77 on Saturday and 77 on Sunday. Not very happy with either round. Blocked a bunch of tee shots well to the right and took a good score out of question on those holes. I played well when I cleared through the ball and ripped it down the fairway.

Also frustrated with my luck with the putter. Just for an idea of what I was facing, I had one birdie putt from 3 feet that fell into the hole, hit the top edge of the cup(the actual little white cup inside the hole) and bounced back out of the hole right back at me. Then the very next hole I had a par putt roll all the way around the hole basically down inside of it and pop back out towards me.

I've never been so close to throwing a club in my life.

47. Just one of those days that I bled slowly to death on. The wheels didn't entirely fall off, but I was just bad all over today. Ugh. Duck-hooked my drives, bad ballstriking (sprayed my irons), and putting was in general a let-down. The heat didn't really help - 95 and extremely humid. 19 putts, 3/7 fairways, 3/9 greens. Two lost balls (one in the woods, one in the water).

I didn't keep score. I worked on my game and it came around nicely. Low hands at address and takeaway. Duh.

Didn't bother keeping score today, played a quick 9 after work...1 hr 15 minutes. Worked on fairway shots & putting, was absolutley dreadful with the chipping. Did manage 1 birdie on the final par 5 to go along with the par on a par 3.

47, only played 9 today...took a 7 on a Par5, and then turned right around with a 5 on a Par3 (sad thing is I hit a great Tee shot that hit below the pin 5ft or so and rolled back off the green, I then proceeded to look like I never held a PW before , chunked 2 balls that went roughly 3 ft on both shots and walked away with a 5.... ) 2 ft off the green on a Tee shot and walk away with a 5.....

Par on 1 hole & Bogey on the rest....

i had nightmare on the course yesterday!
Started off shooting a +4 40 on the front nine, i was pleased with 5 pars anyway (holed some nice 10 footers and swinging well).. after a short break and something to eat we started the back nine and what can i say, my game completely fell apart! standing on the 10th tee it felt like id never hit a shot before in my life and my (usually reliable) swing had deserted me, i was scoring bogeys all over the place and came in with a 50 carding only 1 par. so 90 for the day, so dissapointing... but i was pleased with my play on the front nine

Keep working at it. You'll get there. Work on pre-shot routine. Stay in the present.

I just got a new 3-wood and a couple of hybrids to replace my ancient fairway woods (got them in Jr. High) and also picked up a sand wedge (which I've never had before), so I was eager to try them out. I took them out to a local track this morning and proceeded to shoot my worst 9 holes of the year (55), followed by the best 9 of my life (39). I hit for the cycle on the first four holes (triple-bogey, bogey, double-bogey, quadruple-bogey), and took a 10 on the ninth (par 5).

I don't feel like I played spectacularly on the back. I knew I was doing better than the front, but I didn't know how well until I added up the scores afterwards. I three-putted 10 and 11 after hitting both greens, so that's two easy shots I left on the course. I suppose that either a) I was getting more used to the new clubs, particularly the SW or b) after the front nine I didn't care what I shot anymore, and so I relaxed. It was probably some combination of the two.

This is why I keep playing the game, frustrating as it may be.

    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
