I've noticed during tournament telecasts when they show a graphic of a player's bio or scorecard, they always show a photo of the player, usually a 'headshot' portrait.

Here's the deal, though.  These pictures are terrible!  It's as if they catch each player at the end of a practice round and say "hey, quick photo please?" then snap off a poorly framed, poorly lit, unflattering angle, snapshot on a crappy background.

What gives here?  The production quality of the tournaments are so good now, one would think a decent photo of every player could be provided for the telecast producer to use.

Really really strange.

    • Iacas doesn't need to. The polling has been done by others and the general feeling is overwhelmingly clear. These titles have to go. This is an issue that has been addressed for at least a couple of decades and it is only now that things are actually being changed, rather than merely talked about. You don't get to say that something isn't objectively offensive because it's an issue you don't care about. People are going to decent lengths to prove to you that it isn't a matter of opinion. The fact that YOU don't care is irrelevant. There are a few in this thread who say stuff like "people are too easily offended" or "people are too thin-skinned". No, people care about  demonstrably negative and demeaning names and stereotypes and are supporting efforts to wipe them out. Why does that bother you?
    • Exactly. Thanks for clarifying that point. 👍 I suppose I left that point out given the context of the conversation, but again, thanks for the catch.
    • ‘Indian’ is not offensive to someone from India and it should not be. But it should only apply to people from India.
    • There's not a lot of "good live action" on M-W. And most people are just taking photos of the golf course itself.
