I still cant get over @iacas using the word "Poppycock". Erik, you are what we refer to in the uk as a "Legend" :-D. I havent heard that word used in many years and i have to say it was the perfect choice to us for this post.

I dont think this topic has much life left in it unless there are anymore golfing secrets left to come out?

All that's left is to see how many new accounts @mythbuster creates.

Posting at 5am local time (when it's 9pm Australia time) is one giveaway.

I tried to look at this objectively, and it could be that this person has found a "feel" that works for them. But as we all know... feels can change over time and sometimes lie to us. I know I have found some pretty bad feels that didn't work... let alone build an organization around them. That is why a video can speak volumes. All that being said already.... We live in a Quick-Fix-Drive-Thru world that promises a lot of stuff without paying the price. The price of hard-work and practice (lots of it). Call me old-school here, but I have been in careers spanning music and technology where good old-fashioned woodshedding (putting in the time practicing) is the only way to get from A to B. And frankly, to me... that is the beauty of golf.... The Journey... discovering knew things.. some good, and some not so good and let others tell me when I am right, wrong or delusional... and growing as the result. And finally, hopefully helping others along the way.

He's never claimed that. He's claimed that it's the secret to golf, basically, and said that all problems in golf are cured with this setup. I've paraphrased, not directly quoted, but that's the gist.

That is true. I understand. It could be that he believes his "feel" is everyone else's "secret" (shrug). The test of time will set all that straight, I guess.

there is one problem in golf that seems to elude most. at least you understand what the word "feel' actually means, which you should be applauded for, as you posted against "the grain".

in a typical backswing manoeuvre, that is implemented correctly, all consequent downswing antics that are suggested by our peers are just a hindrance, as all and sundry outcomes are and should be in auto mode, rather than contrived manipulations .

ok, you seem to be on my own playing field of communication potential as i was an aspirant once of becoming a flamenco guitarist, but i had an accident with my fingers.

anyway ,i  think you appreciate that you can't necessarily teach with video or pictures or even more importantly, a "boys club" attitude .

please keep in touch as it only takes one little iceberg to sink the Titanic.

I routinely troll and make things up. Please use my posts for your own amusement, and little else.

Sorry you misunderstood me. I did not mean to post against the grain. I was stating that you maybe discovered a "feel" for yourself that you believe is good for all. I learned thing before, and got excited to share it with others.... but later realized that this is for me. Its a personal thing, I guess. I DO believe in videos, pictures and of course... hard work with no shortcuts or magic potions that promise perfection or anything else. I humbly consider myself the lowest of the all golfers and just want learn the game to play better and enjoy it more. And that is why I frequent this site. I have the highest respect for the players and pros here, I can only dream to achieve a portion of what they have. I appreciate all the input from them, Erik, Dave, Mike and everyone else that posts their input. And more importantly.... I appreciate that they openly share what they know to help others learn this great game.

We know what feel is. The problem is that you don't seem to know what feel is, and how it is not the same golfer to golfer or even week-to-week within the same golfer. You're still a 15, and you're still chasing band-aid fixes.

There is no setup mode or backswing that makes the downswing "automatic" or in "auto mode." The entire golf swing is a contrivance.

You haven't taught anyone anything about the golf swing. And you absolutely can teach with pictures, or video. Let's see what you so inaptly have attempted to describe.

You put it to bed by not posting on it -- so "ignore it" if you want it to disappear into  cyberspace. One does not see deleted or locked threads on TST unless it's spam or someone selling wihtout a sponsorship. Good policy.

    • Interesting that Scottie is #10 on the all time money list and he's been on the PGAT for 4 years. Of course, purses are bigger now, but  neat to look at non-the-less.  The list of top 18 money winners in PGA Tour history has plenty of surprises This list is updated through the 2024 RBC Heritage. To add, Scottie won 4.5 million at the Players, Jack played 44 seasons and won a little of 5 million on course.
    • 43 (6 over) Couple bogies, couple Pars, a birdie and no doubles. Not bad for first 9 of the year.
    • Most the stuff I found on Instagram and just copy and mix it up. a few of my favorites: Clean>Squat>Press> March Around the body >catch >Squat> press I also hold a the kettle bell upside down with both hands on the handle. Squat when I stand back up I lift the kettlebell up over and behind my head and hold then repeat
    • Not sure this is the best thread but, if the rain holds off, today is my 1st round of the year.  Getting ready I can not find my Shot Scope.  I guess I put it away too well for the winter and thus that is may "Winter Depression".  I'm sure I put it somewhere that made sense at the time.
