I may have discovered why my practice swing is so much different than a real swing. My head turns with my shoulders just a bit more on the practice swing. It's a subtle difference but the result in how much shoulder turn I get is not so subtle. This kind of makes sense because the two swings have always felt the same whir looking so different.

So I've been looking at the swings of pros to see what they're doing and it seems their heads turn very slightly at the top. I assume because they are not old guys with as limited of neck flexibility.

My concern isn't what my swing looks like - other than I believe a full shoulder turn is beneficial. I'm just wondering if turning my head too much can become detrimental to seeing the ball better throughout the swing.

It can.  I always rotate my head so that I'm looking at the ball through my left eye.  My head doesn't move as much.  Anything that makes the swing simpler is good.  I believe Nicklaus did this as well (probably a bunch more).

BTW, I have chronic neck pain from a rear end accident a while ago.  Kind of like waking up with a stiff neck.  Eucalyptus oil is great for relieving the pain.  Nothing else has worked.

It's good to hear this from a better player. Thanks.

thanks.   I have never given that a thought.

Not all eucalyptus oil is the same.  I used to get this at a kiosk at a local flea market.  They are online only now since their business has been such a success.  www.eu-cal.com

This stuff is like magic.  Good for temporary relief of pain.  I remember years ago when I'd wake up with a stiff neck before golfing, the round would be shot.  Nothing worked. Ben Gay, ibuprofen, morphine.  Nothing.  Now, a couple of squirts and I'm good to go.  I smell like Vicks, but I like it.  I carry a small squirt bottle in my bag at all times.  This is good for colds and asthma as well.
