Good article with many, many valid points and criticism.
For the record I want the shot tracer on every shot, maybe even puts.
Since I watch the majority of golf in my kitchen on a small screen, while cooking it is impossible to see the shotBut I realize I am in the minority!

It is funny, every time I turned from the stove to the TV there was a commercial on!

You're not along on the shotlink part anyway. Was happy to see many who agree in this thread.

Good point.  I actually texted yesterday (while he was on his last couple of holes) that it was odd that somebody as big as Kuchar was in the top 10 yet didn't get any airtime.

Like they're going through the motions, huh?  I feel like we could write a "Mad-Libs" style script for them and it wouldn't be any worse.  All they have to do is make sure they hit their quota of "kikuya" and "gum tree" mentions when they're at Riviera and they're good to go.

Don't forget Poa Annua.

CBS covering the Phoenix waste open and the Pebble Beach pro am have succumbed to trying to entertain w/o  the golf.  It is a big advertising for upcoming and ongoing CBS shows. Nick Faldo is bored and quite boring.   They have the Masters and that is their saving grace with limited commercials. NBC did seem to learn a lesson. Hopefully Fox does a better job with Azinger than with Norman. I will not miss him.

I don't watch any golf like except the Majors.  You can watch the entire broadcast in half the time if you record it.  Plus, bring in more shot tracker.  I think they should use it off every T-box, love seeing the ball shape that players hit.  This past weekend it seemed the announcers would say you should hit a draw here or there, but Sergio would set up and hit a cut.

I felt like the coverage this week on NBC took all of the feedback and incorporated it. Could've used more shot link though.

I agree. I think shot link for all tee shots would be awesome. I really like the visual.

You guys are confusing me.  I'm pretty sure you're talking about the ProTracer thing and Shotlink is system they use to give us yardages on each shot.

Regardless, I agree that more protracer is good.  They can use that AND still use their conventional camera angles.  Once the ball is halfway on its flight, it's pretty clear about where it's headed, so they can then still switch to the ball against sky background - since they've already given us a little perspective. :)

No it's us who are confused. ShotLink is just more on my mind from working with stats. It is ProTracer. I'm still mystified by the value of the ball against the sky. Is it to introduce some movement / sense of speed to a golf telecast?

    • Day 85 - Played 9. Driver was solid, approach shots were pushed, chipping/pitching was better, putting was rough.
    • Day 514, March 28, 2024 Quick ten minutes while waiting for the wife to come home for our trip.
    • Day 262: did a stack session. Worked on rehearsal swings during rest breaks.
    • It's been a little more than a year since I can last remember hitting golf balls and today I just got my second cortisone injection in 11 months. I thought maybe shortly after the first injection I was going to be able to start playing again with therapy but the pain while doing my backswing past halfway just didn't subside like just lifting my hands up in the air did. So today the Orthopedic surgeon put more in the backside of the shoulder than before to address the tendon more. I'm going to try therapy for another 3 months and if I  can't swing the club without pain then I think surgery is going to be my next option.
    • I was just down visiting family in southern California and we played a couple rounds of golf. I hit my ball into the deep rough near some tree's and my cousin's husband offered me his Sim 2 Rescue Hybrid to try out. And I felt the same way, wow! I loved it, it also had a Pure DTX grip on it which I loved. As soon as I got back home, I ended up buying two used Calloway Rogue X hybrids, 3 and 5. So far I've only tested them out at the range, but I love them. They're much more forgiving than irons for me.
