I don't agree with you on much, but I do agree with this. Langer absolutely does NOT pass the smell test with me.

Wearing my new spikes on the couch waiting for the coverage to start. LOL…

Great way to break them in.

Putt on 1st shows DJ is clearly not as good a reader of greens as Spieth & Day.

I bet most of his SG putting is from shorter range tending to power putts through the break. Plus his proximity from ballstriking likely gives him a lot  of looks from his playing partners to 'go to school' on.

I wouldn't say that, I think it's just a tough green to read. It was a double breaker also. Day missed it by a decent amount on the other side.

Dustin didn't see which break would predominate. Day lagged it much closer - 2ft vs 5 ft. Big difference adding up hole by hole at Augusta.

Matsuyama nervous?  Standing over second shot on #1, lift club set down, lift club set down... repeat.  Not as bad as Sergio a few years ago at the Open, but bad.

Like I said, tough putt to read. Dustin putted first so of course Day got info from it.

Jordan looked a bit nervous over his opening tee shot, too.

and the Old Man bogeys the opening hole.

Why aren't they showing DJ but they do show Day?

Maybe, but I think Day was already way left of where DJ started his putt, and think Day is just generally stronger at green reading.

And another bit of exceptional luck for Rory finding and hitting his ball out of the bushes. Took bogey, but it could have been so much worse.

Rory's smile on his way out of the bushes looked like "I was just in there to take relief before playing my provisional... why are you cheering?"

If I take nothing else away from watching this tournament, at least I can realize that I'm not cool enough to wear white pants.

Wow, Dustin's over the green.  I was surprised he was hitting driver, not because he was trying to drive the green, but because I agree -- too much.  Didn't he drive a par-4 with an iron in the Open a few years ago (Pebble, IIRC, not final round)?
