For the discussion of the 2016 Masters, to be played April 7-10 at some muni course named Augusta National GC.

Who will win? Who will be the surprise story? Will Jordan Spieth get out of his funk?

This is addicting.

Who let Steve into the Butler Cabin?

Ease up on his jockstrap bud, I don't hate Jordan. He is a good young guy. I don't hate him. He is not Bubba. But, Jordan is just plain boring. To me he is not good for the overall game and I do NOT w

I hope Jordan gets out of his funk. I would like to see a tight tournament with 5 or 6 players in position to win on Sunday. That would make it fun to watch.

Bubba isn't a bad bet. One of the best strikers on the tour, playing well this year, and obviously the course suits him. I'll be there this year, for Sunday's round. Can't wait.

I think Jordan will be alright at Augusta. He seems to be getting out of his funk the last two days at Valspar. Will be interesting to see how he does in Texas leading up the Masters. Last year he posted a win and then two runners-up finishes in Texas before Augusta. That gave him huge confidence.

Just a gut feeling, but I think Rory is going to be a major contender this year. Not going to say he's going to win it yet, but I do think he'll be in the hunt on the back 9 on Sunday. Playing really well so far this year. He just needs to avoid that one bad round which seems to be hindering him a bit from winning more in 2016.

I like JD and DJ for this... (see what I did there?)

They both hit the ball so freaking high, good for sticking greens. Not mentioning Bubba because he's a tool.

Phil seems like he is going to peak at the right time.

I'm a huge fan of Phil. Would love to see him win. And he can, because that course just seems set up for certain players, and he's definitely a horse for that course.

However, there also seems to be this sad thing that happens to pros where one day they simply reach a point where they can't win anymore. They strike it beautifully, but don't make enough putts anymore. Or they play great for three days and then run out of gas.....or charge at the end but come up short.

I think Phil is at that point now. There is of course always some chance of winning, but I think he is a huge longshot these days to win any tournament, especially a major.

If Tom Watson came within a hair's width winning of The Open were it not for that fateful 8 iron, I think Mickelson has a reasonable chance to win this year. DLIII won last year and he's 6 years older. "Just" needs to go on a streak.

that was the cruelest of all 8 irons.  but then he made a terrible atrocious putt from off the green.  i dont think he should have chipped it, but that putt was just awful.

I am hearing that Arnie will not hit the opening shot - if true that makes me sad.

Defending Masters champion Jordan Spieth has picked Texas barbecue to be on the menu for the Masters Champions Dinner at Augusta National.

However, as Doug Ferguson of The Associated Press reports, there is still confusion over what brand.

Ben Crenshaw, a two-time Masters winner, told Ferguson on Monday night that Spieth had chosen Salt Lick Barbecue, a "great choice from right here in Austin, Texas," he said.

But Spieth denied those reports, saying Augusta National picks the brand.

''I didn't select Salt Lick. I don't know where that was spread from,'' Spieth said Tuesday. ''Augusta National always makes the meals. So they asked,' What do you want to have for your meal?' and I said I'd love to do some Texas barbecue. So they kind of go out and search for a way to make it based on popular places. I'm not sure what it's exactly going to be. It's going to be Texas barbecue. I'm pretty excited for it.''

    • Which is why @iacas and TST instructors in general recommend priority pieces. This could really screw someone up who’s hip rotation wasn’t a priority piece or who’s hand/wrists movements were. I vote D-. Not an F purely because of his enthusiasm…lol.
    • For the record and for what it’s worth, I’m not a Xander fan. I just think he’s pretty good.
    • Maybe. Maybe not. That’s why I said it “could be.” Statistically things aren’t in his favor because, as you mentioned, the field is pretty good. But he’s also pretty good—one of the best statistically-speaking. Sometimes just a little bit of success can spur one on to do more. He looks like he has the talent, so I guess we will just have to wait and see.  Curious: is there something in his game or swing you see that you don’t like? You’d know better than I, for sure. To me, he looks very solid. I didn’t know if maybe you saw something he needs to fix, just based it purely on the numbers, or the fact that you don’t like him and that your dislike of him could have tainted your view of him (even if deserved!).
    • And I'd wager that within a reasonable version of "launching pad" it won't be. He won a weak, limited-field event. I'm sure it feels great - it's one event every FOUR years instead of majors which are four events every year (usually). But it's not even as good as winning a WGC event or the Masters or something (also limited field events) as an actual achievement. I'd be willing to wager that simply because: There are a lot of other good golfers out there. He hasn't done it yet, and for "this" to be the catalyst, he'd have to do it within the next year or so for this to be the "launching pad." Who cares if he, like Sergio, wins a major 15 years later? The 1999 PGA was not the launching pad for Sergio's Masters win. Nor were any of the Ryder Cups in which he played so well, etc.
    • Make some swings in a mirror and try different things. See what your feels produce. I don't really know what you mean by "using your knees" in this way, and quite honestly, I don't think you do either… not because you don't think you know, but because you're probably not doing what it feels like you're doing. Move the hips properly, and see what the other body parts do. Do it in a mirror so the feedback is immediate.
