I wanted to just say how much I love my Garmin Vivo Active watch for golf. My wife bought it for me as a triathlon training tool (I did one and won't make that mistake again ;-)). It has got a great feature for golf. I love how I can always look down at my watch and know exactly how far away from the green I am. It also does a shot distance tracker, so you can hit that button and start walking to your ball and it will check exactly how far you hit it. It also has a scorecard feature that will automatically switch to score mode once you're on the green, so you can add your score in. It then syncs with your smartphone so you can save all your scores on there. It doesn't have to be connected to your phone during the round, which is nice, so it saves your phone's battery. The only downfall is that if your watch isn't at least halfway charged before 18 holes, it will likely die during the round. It is also your traditional smart watch, so it sends all texts, emails, notifications to your phone, tracks your sleep and steps, etc... You can pick one up on Amazon for about $189. It's water proof (again, it's meant for triathletes) and very hardy. I give it 5 stars and two thumbs up.

I tested it, the only problem is you have to load your courses, it doesn't come preloaded like the Garmin Approach watches do.

But it's also used for triathlons, so I'll take the 5 minutes to load a course. I've used it in 5 different states, and it takes less than 5 minutes to load the course.

    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
