@Abu3baid, how is the quality of contact? You hitting the ball pretty solidly and consistently?

The reason I ask is because I'm wondering why you can't just play the push. +4° path with +6° face should be a pretty small curve, you should be able to aim more left and let the ball fall right?

TAKE THIS WITH GIANT GRAIN OF SALT AS I WAS A 25+ INDEX LESS THAN 12 MONTHS AGO:

This may not be your issue, but it is my miss, so maybe could be contributing?  I have a similar path, and when I am hitting push fades my face is open because I am blocked out by my body.  If I speed up my arms just slightly and keep my arms in front of my body just a bit, I can close the face properly(too fast and its hook city) without thinking too much about it.

I found a thread on here somewhere where one of the instructors was talking about letting the left arm come off the chest a bit and not stay so pinned. At top of back swing, inside left arm is above left nipple, then on left nipple, then below.  Mine was pinned high and I never let it drop, hence the body getting in the way and my face being stuck open.

Might be worth a look and if not, just disregard. :-)

Prolly a stupid question, but just wanting to double check - the motorcycle "revving" feel is the left hand bending towards the inside of the wrist (where you take your pulse) and not backwards?

AKA 'bowing' and 'palmar flexion' (for lead wrist)

I could never see "degrees", and worked with 1/4, 1/8, or 1/16 inch increments. I once saw a training club marked like that. A square face  to the target line was "0". On either side of the "0" were marks in 1/8 increments, around the shaft for adjustment reference points. The golfer simply turned the club grip in their hands, then regripped to find a club face position that worked better with their correct grip, and swng path.

The thought was that not everyones' grip returned the club face, the same,  back to what it was address. An individual should expiriment to find their own correct club face position at address.

Exactly.

The quality is actually pretty good, and you are right I may have to play what ever I can when I go to the course.

I am just following the advice of Joe which is to do what I can practicing to get the face closed to the path, but when playing do what ever I need to in order to score.

Thanks everyone for your replies.  I think the one thing I will try and work on will be sticking the stick into the ground about 10 feet ahead and 5 yards to the right and try and get the ball starting over it and see where that takes me..

I will try and post a vid of me practicing in my swing thread..

That's a good call. My question was partially academic. Part of me always wondered why we obsess over draws.

A 2° relationship between your face and path is pretty good and I imagine the flight is nice. That's why I was wondering why you couldn't just shift your aim a bit and play a fade instead of learning to draw, but that's really just taking the face and path numbers in a vacuum and not considering factors like other parts of your swing that may need to be worked on.

Not so much a drill, as it is a tweaking of the grip. Getting a decent swing path is easier than getting the correct grip/club face angle combination.

I was taught to keep my same club path, and grip. The adjustment was closing the club face just a little at address. This compensated for where my hands were actually returning at impact, which was leaving the club face a little open. Not sure it would work for others, but you never know.

Interesting! It can happen the other way around as well. A few years ago I was at the local golf dome hitting balls off a mat. Not ideal but, when it's February and there's a foot and a half of snow on the ground, it's the only game in town. I picked out a target square to the mat I was on, you have to have a target, right?, and started swinging. Everything went right!

Then I noticed that the mat material, the carpet, was laid out in tiny rows that were square to the target line I was using. And when I put my club down behind the ball, my clubface was open to the target line! When I squared it up, it appeared to be closed. But after hitting a bunch of balls with the new clubhead alignment right where I wanted to, I decided that I was wrong and needed to learn to square the clubface again at address.

I suppose this is an iteration of the classic, "There's what you feel, and what is real". But this is about how things look or appear. So, I'm thinking we need a new phrase to describe this phenomenon. Maybe, "There's how it looks, and how it cooks!"

Meh, it's a work in progress.

LOL... Wow..

What the hell is wrong with me?  Why would I want to put it 10 feet ahead and 15 feet to the right?

I would like to revise that.. How about 10 feet ahead and 5 feet to the right and try to start inside of it.  :)

it must have been the jet lag.

Ha ha. Yeah, that would be more reasonable. Unless you're working on your shanks. ;-)

    • It’s simple. Hook it onto the tee box of the adjacent hole. Get a GIR with your approach. Birdie hole. #5 Hook it to the adjacent fairway Hit green with next shot. Birdie hole. I call it the Bill Method.
    • I’ll have to pay attention more attention to the area when I’m there. I know the area to the left of the bunkers off the tee is fescue/native vegetation but I can’t remember what’s around the tee boxes. Something to consider still is that you can’t see the green from the tee. You can’t even see all three bunkers IIRC. So I could have a line on the drive but still not know where it ends up. I think I’d be a lot more comfortable going with driver if I played here more regularly and had a log in my head of where shots tend to end up like I do at the other county courses. I have never hit driver on this hole off the blue tees. I have done it from the gold, but the length and angle are different, and during casual rounds when I didn’t care that much about score. I’m not sure the best time to try it is the second hole of a tournament. Or at the very least, I’m uncomfortable with the idea and that’s probably enough reason not to do it. I see what you’re saying. Wind is supposed to be pushing out more to the right on Saturday, too. I could probably aim right at the bunker and not end up in it. I don’t think there’s anything near the green other than that tiny bunker that would give me trouble. Well, trouble in addition to my short game deficiencies that is. Yea, me too. All I’m thinking is get it in play, put it near the green, chip on and two putt for 5. I’ll have plenty of opportunities to use my length as an advantage later. You realize all of this theory crafting will be moot when I chunk it off the tee, right? 😆

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.
