Pretty cool major season.  Weakest winner is Willets.  I hope he earns it in the coming years cuz I like the kid but each of the other 3 I can see winning another, Willets?  Not so much.

Congrats to Walker. Man that pressure has gotta really be eating away at Sergio and Rickie among others now to lose their major virginity. Walker seems like a good dude. Confident swagger, I dig it. Nice to see Spieth and Rickie, along with Day seem so happy for him.

Agree. Hopefully the US can get over the hump this year. We've got a good team in place. Looking forward to that and the Olympics too.

Whats crazy is the fact Day has 5 2nd and 3rds in majors. He could be heralded as one of the absolute greatest of all time if he turned a couple more of those into wins. I guess you could say that about a lot of guys, but its just crazy. Day was fighting his swing all day today. Couldn't hit his driver for shit and pulled almost every approach shot, yet he stripes a 2 iron 250 yards to a raised #18 green and sinks an eagle putt to put the pressure on Walker. The dude is unreal. The all time greats win when they don't have their best stuff, and Day almost did that.

This was a fun year for majors with 4, 1st timers. But here's to hoping next season's winners are bigger names getting their 2nd, 3rd, 5th, etc. I would love to see DJ, Day and Spieth catch up to Rory.

Just watched Day's reaction walking up the 18th when he knew Walker had birdied the 17th,brilliant,I love honesty.

Still talking about the big 3 in the studio, too many players too close them now, what big 3??

What sucks for Rory is I think unless he gets a new caddy and figures out his putter, his window to dominate might have closed. It seems like the tour has completely changed in the last 2 years. With Day, DJ and even Henrik finally getting the monkey off their backs, and Jordan rising to his level, it all happened at the same time. Now you get Phil playing well again, #48 ranked player in the world win a major, Willett birdies what 4 of the last couple holes at Augusta to win? You have 3 different players shoot 63s in the last two majors. Branden Grace has been lirking in majors the last year. Matsuyama seems to get knocking on the door. All the while I haven't even mentioned the likes of Rose, Scott, Bubba and Kuchar. Its just crazy.

Hard to believe we went through all 4 majors with no wins for Spieth, McIlroy, and Day. I wonder what the odds were on them going 0-for-4 before the Masters began. Even stranger, they really didn't contend that much. Spieth was a factor at the Masters but that was it. Day was in the hunt down the stretch at the PGA and somewhat at the US Open. And Rory was never really a factor in any of them. We really are in an age of parity, albeit much stronger and deeper talent than the parity that took place in the 90s. It's hard to win majors with so many strong players today.

The thing that attracted new blood to the game was Woods and stupid crazy prize and endorsement money. Woods is gone and tv ratings are stale, yet the tv money is still pretty good. My question is how long can that last? Golf is in a good place quality and variety of players wise but ratings wise needs to be better to sustain the money levels. ESPN is suffering and streaming threatens the old way of doing things. We're still good now, thinking long term. Are we at peak revenue?

Good scenes at Baltusrol today, I agree.

Rickie will win one, one day. But Sergio? Sergio may as well go and stand next to Monty.

Walker earned this win in the same fashion Stenson earned it. Playing top notch against another world class player playing very well. When he hit the green out of those trees I figured he had earned it at that point.

Who the f is Willets?  I wrote this without my glasses and I guess it auto-corrected on me.

I would tend to agree with you but I think my perspective is skewed because I don't Willett as regularly as I see the others.  IIRC, Willett was ranked 12th before he won the Master's and JW was ranked 48th entering this week so obviously Willett has game.

Disagree on Willett. I actually like his chances to win another. People forget he was playing really well early in the year and ranked in the top 15 when won the Masters. Hes struggled since Augusta. Some of it has to with probably having a new born and mixing that with a new life and new pressure.

I hope you're right, that's a kid I could root for being a perpetual top 10 player.

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
