Trail foot visible from the top?

Hi all, just a quick one....

Can you see your back foot when you are at the top of your backswing, or is it blocked out by your lead shoulder/ forearm? Should you be able to?

Never really thought about it. I am usually focusing on a spot in front of my ball. I had to go try it. In my case, it's blocked out by my upper arm,  very near my shoulder.

I haven't got the faintest idea. I'd stand up and check right now, but… why?

This sounds like one of those gamesmanship questions that you ask a match play opponent during a round to get him thinking about something totally random. 

I also have no idea and don't really care to check.

To the OP. Why aren't you looking somewhere near the ball? You know. That little thing you're trying to hit!

Curiousity got the best of me and I just checked and ... No, I cannot see my trail foot at the top of my backswing.  In fact, I don't see either foot.

If I'm being entirely honest I don't know if I can even see the golf ball at the top of my backswing. I haven't ever had reason to worry about what I see, since I'm focusing on the swing itself.

Thanks for the responses. I ask because I heard or read somewhere that this is a good check to see that your shoulder rotation is steep enough (leading shoulder under, rather than in front of, your chin) and that you are not "standing up" as you take the club back.

It feels uncomfortable to take the club back so that my back foot is visible, but, on the other hand, I know that what feels comfortable in the golf swing is not necessarily correct. So I wanted to know if the comment was valid and something I should work on.

OMG, now we have to think about being able to see our feet?? All I care about is whether they hurt or not after walking 18.

Yeah, yeah,yeah. Humor aside, I would still like to know whether this is in fact a good checkpoint to see whether you have the correct spine angle/shoulder plane. I struggle with coming over-the-top and was wondering if my lead shoulder was moving too far in front of my chin, rather than under it.

Video or mirror work is way better.
