I used to want to play the Blue Monster. Now ... not so much.

That summarizes my attitude towards his courses.

Like most replies, it has less to do about the owner and his political views or the quality of person he is, and more to do with the probable cost.

If I boycotted based on political views or how "good" of a person the ownership was, I'd have to quit watching movies, listening to music, watching professional sports, driving a vehicle....

It's next to impossible to avoid giving money to a business or organization which doesn't have at least one a-hole who will prosper at some level. Why would a Trump-owned business be any different?

Turnberry; it seems sacrilege that Trump stamped his name all over that course.

Kind of tantamount to spray painting your name on the Mona Lisa!

We're talking about playing golf right?  I don't research each individual course owner to make sure their politics is aligned with mine.  I can't stand Obama but if he owned a good golf course I'd play it.

There are too many good courses to play one that Trump owns.  His course fees are overpriced or out of my price range.   Why waste money when there are other courses to play?   He can survive without my money since he's so fabulously rich.   If he pays me to play at his courses, I will definitely play :-).

Given the opportunity to play a Trump Course...yes I would.  Maybe I am in the minority here but his politics do not influence my decision about golf.  And FWIW, (maybe an unpopular statement to make here but what the hey) yes, given the choices for President...I will vote for Trump.

"Programs!  Get yer programs!  Can't tell the ball parks without a program!"   Does everything have to be branded?  I am sure that I could play and enjoy any course regardless of what it had been commercially christened; but I don't have to like it.

In der bag:
Cleveland Hi-Bore driver, Maltby 5 wood, Maltby hybrid, Maltby irons and wedges (23 to 50) Vokey 59/07, Cleveland Niblick (LH-42), and a Maltby mallet putter.                                                                                                                                                 "When the going gets tough...it's tough to get going."

Sure I would if the oppruntunity presented itself. It's a golf course, and I especially like to play courses I have never played before. The owner of the course is of no consequence to me.

Exactly! The course is the thing.

His courses are out of my price range. I would rather save to play Pebble or St. Andrews.

The same goes locally. There's a course nearby, Avalon Lakes, that is worthy of a PGA Tour stop, but the PGA's calendar is full. It's semi-private, but if I just show up and want to play it's 150 bucks! Might not sound like much, but I'm retired, and that's a daunting sum of money for me. However, I found a deal through a local radio sports talk station. I could play the Sister course, Squaw Creek, and two other nice courses for 77 dollars. The Avalon Lakes deals were all sold out by the time I heard about it.

My buddies and I had a delightful time on all three courses, especially Squaw Creek. It was built in the '30's, and had been private for a long time. The conditioning was exceptional. I'll be on the lookout for those Avalon Lakes deals this holiday season!

The only "Country Club" course I've played is LVCC. Once a long time ago, we met this older couple in Palm Springs and the man was owner of a golf course there. I met him at Gene Autry Nite club. I was invited to play golf at his course the next morning, but I had a hangover and never made it. I have regretted that decision ever since, he even telephoned me in the morning and I ashamedly declined. I should have asked him which course, but there are several in the area. As for Trump...probably not, but then again, if I had the money, maybe I would. I agree with the idea that his motivation in this political race is branding and my personal opinion is that he never has had any intention of actually becoming POTUS. But, we will just have to wait and see.

If someone invited me of course I would play.  Just because Clinton is a 70 year old grandmother that still dyes her hair blond doesn't mean that I wouldn't consider dying my hair when I turn 70 someday.   :-P

I'd play one if the price was right, but then I'd leave an upper-decker in the locker room and refuse to pay, cause The Donald told me that was a legitimate position.

Don't get me wrong, it was a good poop, I just wasn't completely satisfied.

Admittedly, the world we've created is complex enough that making those determinations require information that is just not available.  There are, however, times when it is clear a threshold has been crossed and any involvement with the entity in question either a) demands a response; or b) overrides any possible positive involvement on your part.  If it's clear a clothing line you are considering purchasing was made by forced labor or helped prop up an apartheid dictatorship, would you buy it?  A reasonable person wouldn't.  More complex would be your note on driving a car - I'd say many of the protests oil companies receive are misplaced.  Petroleum has been so fundamental to daily life that it's hypocritical blame them for that fact.  Our focus (and positive energy) should be on finding replacements.

Trump?  He's run a misogynist, racist campaign from the start and it's amazing that it's taken a video/recording for some people to see this (and some still don't!).

For me, the threshold was crossed some time ago.

I don't like Trump.

I'd pay though if I thought it was a good value.  I doubt any or his courses are what I'd think was a good value after all I can play Torrey Pines North for $40.  For me anything over $100 isn't a good value no matter how good the course... although the exception is, I'd pay more than that to play Augusta
