I like the ending. I like that the writers and directors could not see a way for the main characters to live and didn't try to force it. I like that Disney didn't force them to.

I really liked how the main scientist on the development of the power source built in a relay chain reaction that would destroy the Death Star. It really validates Luke being able to destroy the Death Star by shooting the Photon Torpedoes into the exhaust port.

Well, not quite monologues, but I found these a bit... much:

Heck Lucas was never the best writer either. Luke is a whinny brat for the first movie. Some lines a definitely cringe worthy.

After re-reading the Star Wars Ring Theory, I'm convinced Lucas is a theoretical genius but a practical moron.

Yeah, the thing about Lucas is that he's a brilliant ideas man with no idea how to implement them most of the time. He's at his worst when he's given total creative freedom, and works best under restrictions.
