You have to go a long way to beat Sensible Golf :-D

What console is that from?  Never see it before.

I can't go that far, but my favorite old-ish golf game was Peter Jacobsons Goldten Tee golf on playstation 1.  I know they have the arcade style still, but this on the PS1 was a lot of fun when I was a kid.

Never had a PS1... had a PS2 but no golf games for that.  Will look it up.

For you guys that play Tiger Woods/PGA Tour on the Wii, do you use a real practice swing with the controller, or do you do the little underhanded toss I see most gamers use?

Never tried a Wii.  Do you use the numchucks?

One of the Xbox ones could use the Kinect but I did not like it at all!

The best ever has to be the old Links games for the PC.  Use to play that for hours!

No, just the regular Wii controller. You can hold it in your left hand like a club. It senses motion.

Has anyone tried the "Nintendo Wii My Personal Golf Trainer With IMG Academies And David Leadbetter"? It's supposed to be a Training App more than a "Video Game". It supposedly analyzes your swing, balance, etc. and then gives you drills to improve.

It's on the "Wii" platform, so it's not something you just play with the controller. You take your stance on the "Wii Balance Board" and swing the controller as if it's a golf grip. It then analyzes your swing and gives you some feedback.

I'd try it myself, but I've read it is for Right Handed golfers only, and I'm a lefty. Is the "RH Only" limitation true?

However, if it's worthwhile, I might get it for my wife, she right-handed. I've seen it on Ebay for about $40, which isn't too bad if it's legit.

Way before I ever thought about trying to play golf myself, we got this one.

I enjoyed it, but my brothers and sisters made sure Golden Axe and Sonic the Hedgehog got the most play.

Your smart golf practice, enjoy golf with game.

Anybody see or try this?

They had a kickstarter that I missed, but they are adding WGT support to it so it should have some decent graphics and a bunch of awesome courses that you can play.

Also the device just attaches to the end of you grip so you can use the stubby club they provide or your own club, and some reviews I've watched show that it has somewhat accurate results.

I like most of them!

One of my favorites is Awesome Golf on the Atari Lynx from the early 90s. I've been really enjoying the latest Mario Golf on 3DS lately, as well as some classic Links 2003 on PC.

I played Links on the computer and I played Nintendo Golf. You can play too here:

Play Nintendo Golf on NES (Nintendo) online

It's particularly brutal because clearly, when I was a kid, even video game golfers played with persimmon woods and carried a 1 iron. You can also tell that fitness was not yet part of golf.

Amazing, your post made me dig out the old golf game and I have just spent half an hour playing it.

I have The Golf Club 2 and i have to say its very good. Love the fact there are so many courses you can play from the servers. Some are very very well done and others are so crap they are hilarious to play.

Did not know about that game, thank you. I have just checked it out and found that there is a VR version of it, too:

Golfamania - Sega Master System

Tiger 05/06/12/13/14 - PS2/Xbox 360

My faves all time, still play them regularly, shame no one has worked out how to edit the Tiger games as other EA games have various editors/mods available.

    • Day 168 Just a bit of indoor putting stuff in the morning, and a few balls off the mat after dinner, focusing on posture at address.
    • I definitely have to get in a mental ZONE to putt well, and it is a major difference.  I can feel when I am in it, but I do not have the best focus.  So it is a challenge for me to get there and stay.  I get to the course very early whenever possible. My pre-round goals include: 1. Find that putt Nirvana. 2. Stretch my back into functioning condition (I'm missing three discs). 3. Range, then pray that I hit my drives on the front nine like I do on the range. ------------------------------------------------------- I have not been practicing putting on the practice green because, well the courses do not seem to want people to.  But there are always a few folks using the practice areas.  I wonder if them pulling the flags out and then not bothering to enforce any sort of rules reflects COVID window dressing and not any sort of genuine purpose.  My putting has not been grand since quarantine, and I would like to get on that green.
    • I have been doing quite well this season but we have decided to leave our home club. Moving to a new club tomorrow and will need to do a par challenge instead since it is a tougher course. But I am pretty sure I will at least par every hole once this season!
    • Well, after all the great posts from so many of you, the time has come for me to admit that I was right all along...and so were so many of you! We moved to AZ last year in June and I began playing with a bunch of guys from ages 70-85.  Great guys who played golf by the strict rules of the game.  At first, I shot 101 and the next week it was down to 87 and the next into the lower 80's etc.  That was from early July 2019 through early September.  And then mid-October came along and my back was simply gone.  I could no longer make a full turn (or even a half-turn) away from the ball.  The MRI's saw a bulged and herniated discs as well as the expected arthritis that we all experience as we age. Since then, it's gotten worse.  Where I could formerly hit my 6 iron over 150 yards, it now goes maybe 110 yards at most.  The money I paid to play at a rather "high-end" golf club is gone (Covid19 caused both nice restaurants and Spa areas to close) and my membership will end in early fall of this year.  Both courses are still open but with limited play and closing early in the late afternoons.  Six people have been diagnosed with the Virus and yet, the course stays open because it is considered "essential" here in AZ. My cousin is a leading Epidemiologist out of Atlanta, GA and early indications say the Virus will come back with a vengeance this fall.  I hope he is wrong!  Meanwhile, I am looking into finding an electric bicycle just to get some much-needed exercise.  Just sitting and watching Netflix is seriously getting old. I hope all of you stay well and realize what a Pandemic truly is--and of course, how our bodies just don't allow us to play golf as well as our minds think we ought to play.  HA!  Stay safe out there! Arch
    • Day 90: Still the one armed drilled. Did some fuller swings as well. Working on getting the hips open and my right elbow and wrist more bent at impact.
