My wife left here 8 iron on hole 8, near the green on hole 9 she noticed it was gone.  I drove back and asked the group behind if they had found the club, the young man said no, a young women said to the young man... Travis, yes you did, don't you remember it was like a minute ago, you found a club right by the green.

Got the 8 iron back no thanks to the dishonesty of the guy.  What he was going to do with a women's 8 iron is a mystery to me.  For us it was very valuable because if lost she would no longer have a complete matching set of clubs, that kind of ruins the set of clubs for me.

I always pick misplaced clubs up and part of my thinking is better me than someone who is going to try to keep it.

Yep.  Always pick it up and either the owner comes looking or I turn it in.  Same for the many other lost gear that I've found on the course - towels, jackets, cell phones, a watch, a GPS.  I don't see any logic in leaving them for someone less honest to pick them up and keep them.

good Karma. I have returned several items to golf course pro shop;s, gaming casino security, hotel front desk. Sometimes owners contacted and thanked me, other times not. I once lost a checkbook along Lake Isabella, someone found it and called me on phone and returned. When I worked in casino security, we had a lost and found  policy that if an employee found an item, and it was not claimed within a certain period of time, usually 30-60 days, that they could claim the item. One of my security officers wanted a bicycle he found abandoned in the parking lot. I am pretty sure it was claimed by a local tribal member.

Yes. Pick it up and turn it in at the club house.

Off topic, but I found a wallet earlier this year on the fairway (while walking). I sprinted up to the twosome who were on the green only because I didn't want to be walking around in possession of someone else's wallet. The guy said he left it on the fender of the golf cart and that it wasn't the first time he'd done that. It was very odd.

I pick it up and keep it.-Oh wait I am not that guy. That was @zipazoid.

Pick it up, give it back to the owner if he can tell you what it was-And turn it in to the pro shop otherwise.

This year I left my sand wedge on the green and I was blessed that a couple found it on the previous hole.   It's a gut wrenching feeling to realize you've lost something.

I always pick up anything I find and carry it toward the clubhouse.

I always try to leave my wedges between the flag and the cart on the putting surface.   It makes it easier to do a visual sweep when you are finished.

I always pick up whatever I may find around the green. If we catch up to the group ahead of us I'll give it back. If not, I bring it to the clubhouse and I hope that people would do the same for me.

my get up and go musta got up and went..

yes!!!  always!!!!

summer of 2015, i was up visiting my mom for a weekend and decided to play the local university course, and somehow within the first 7 holes i lost my Vokey 60* wedge... me and my buddy ( on cart ) went back over all the greens.. and couldnt find it.. nobody was behind us... even left my name and # and what the wedge was at the club house and nothing... FML!!!!!     a few weeks later, i was playing another course with my dad and brother, and same thing happened, i somehow left one of my 56* wedges by a green.... we get to the club house after the front 9, and i am leaving my info at the front desk, and in walks a guy with my wedge lol..... i was so happy!!!!  i even offered to buy him a drink of his choice and he turned it down...

while i always have left a wedge half on the green so i see it.... now if i bring a wedge onto the green, i leave it at the nearest point of the green vs my push cart or cart that way i will walk right back to it..

It is what it is

I am prone to leaving clubs on the course.  So if I am going to take more than one from the cart, I take my whole bag with me.  Seems excessive but that is how bad I can be.  Once left 2 wedges behind on the same hole and never got them back.  They were a pain to replace too because they were discontinued, 2 deg upright, 1/2" over with custom wrapping under a midsize grip.  Used eBay to get something close and them have them fitted as close as possible to match the rest of the set.

In my Bag:

Driver - SLDR 430 - 10.5 deg
3 Wood - SLDR HL
Irons - TM Tour CB's                                                                                                                                                                 Wedges - TM                                                                                                                                                                               Putter - Odyssey White Ice 2 Ball

I always pick them up. I just picked one up on the range the other day, called the starter on his cell and he had a kid come over and get it, as the owner was on the first tee.

It certainly helps to have your name and/or address on your clubs. I have my name and my home golf club on all my clubs. I once left a 7-iron at Tidewater on a golf trip to Myrtle Beach and didn't realize it. We left the next day and I was bummed to find that it wasn't in my bag the next time I played. The next day, the head pro at my club called me to tell me that he received my 7-iron in a UPS package from Tidewater. Somebody turned it in and the Pro Staff there sent it to my club.

...................you might be a "non-golfer" if you don't pick-up a club you find laying on the ground!!   Sooner or later, that player will circle back looking for it and you'll have it to give back.   If not, turn it into the pro-shop.

Found a Titleist 716 Ap2 4 iron the other day at the range. With a bucket of balls in my hand, I couldn't resist the urge to hit it a couple times. Of course I turned it back in, though the idiot was lucky. Probably the sweetest club I ever hit, and been debating on buying a set ever since.

Yeah, Titleist does this on purpose. ):

I'm going to have to re-try the Ap2 irons again. But, not anything stronger than the 5 iron.

I will always pick up clubs I find and turn them into the ranger (if I see one) or to the golf cart staff when I return.

At my home club some of the members have labels on their clubs with their name and phone number so if I find one I'll call the member and let them know I have it.

turned up late for a tee time once with my buddies and they had tee'd off ready to go i threw my car keys next to the sand bin and tee'd off and promptly wondered off catching up my buddies and forgot them.

As I came down the 18th a guy walking down the first shouted "lost any keys?" and they were mine, I didnt realise until he shouted that I hadnt got them,....I wonder how many other groups in those few hours saw them but didnt do anything with them?

FYI - i always pick up lost stuff and return it

I always pick them up and bring them to the clubhouse. Usually whoever lost it backtracks and finds me during the round though.

Not always. In a tournament, most certainly not.  If the group ahead of me are walkers, ill put the club in my bag and catch them at some point. But generally, I feel like its better to leave clubs around where you found them. Maybe against a tree or propped up someplace near by. Somebody will eventually come back for it.
