    • Playing Alternate Shot format for sure. I haven’t done that since 1999. It was a blast and wish it was played more often. The strategy and the pressure involved makes the heart rate go up...slightly.

    • Playing up to my ability and not letting my partners down.
    • That my back will hold up for 90 holes. But that is what the NC Training is for on my Vlog.

    • What goes along with the shirt size, pant size and shoe size requested?  ;-)

Anything you are particularly curious about?

Looking forward to getting a few days of good friendly competition.  I enjoy playing golf for fun, but I love competing on the golf course, especially within the friendly atmosphere we had at the last Newport Cup.

I think everyone is concerned that they won't play up to their own expectations, and I'm no different.  Its one thing to play poorly in an individual setting, but I'd hate to feel like I let my partner or my team down.  That said, all I can do is try my best on each shot, and accept whatever the results are.

I'm curious to see what surprises @mvmac and @iacas will come up with this time.

I'll just add that I'm going to be extremely disappointed if we don't get a bunch of new applications completed and posted during May.  This isn't because I don't think we have a few great candidates right now, but I've really enjoyed watching every one, and I want to see more of them.  And of course we NEED more applications if we're going to fill out the teams.

None, really.

It's not about that this year. Last time, sure, but we were right by PING and PURE and TRUE was there, too.

This is just about the golf.

The people. The competing.

1) I'm looking forward to playing golf on the east coast.  Whenever I've vacationed east, I haven't taken my clubs and so if I played, I rented.  I'll have to do some research on grass types and to see how the greens react to spin and how the ball lies on rough, etc.  Just in general, it'll be nice to have a real golf vacation.

2) I am definitely concerned that I will suck.  I know I just have to play my game, whatever it is that day, but it's hard to think overly positive when you've never played there and it's on the opposite side of the country.  Other than that, I'm not really concerned about much.

3) I'm curious about the courses around there and how my game plan might change.  I'm also curious whether people will fall into my trap and try to get into my head based on my answer above. ;-)

I just watched the fly-overs for both courses, and my goodness they don't have nearly enough doglegs at both courses.  The challenge at these courses comes from the tee shots I would think, avoiding bunkers and placing the ball at the right spot to have a good look at the green.  Should be fun! I'm excited, too bad it's not for another 5.5 months...

More-so at Mid South. Talamore is much more difficult on the approach shots. Alot more plateau greens, steep slopes around the greens, with tougher bunkers. There are some holes if you go off the wrong side you will roll 20-30 yards away from the green and might be in a bad spot.

I think Talamore plays longer since it has more elevation changes.

For those who are interested, I've just had a notice that Talamore and MidSouth will be featured on the TV show Golf America.  This is one of those syndicated golf travel shows that comes on some cable station on weekend mornings, when most actual golfers are actually golfing.  You can watch this episode at their website:

If you prefer to DVR it, here's a list of showtimes

Thanks for posting the link. Those courses are beautiful! Really makes me wish my handicap was lower. :~(

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? TIGER WOODS' AMATEUR VICTORIES YEAR WIN(S) 1984 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1985 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1988 Boy's 11-12 Junior World Golf Championships   1989 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships   1990 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships, Insurance Youth Golf Classic   1991 U.S. Junior Amateur, Boys 15–17 Junior World Golf Championships, Orange Bowl International Junior Look at some other AJGA Players of the Year. How many of these names do you recognize? A few, for sure. I assure y'all, I'm not trying to pee in your Cheerios. I just don't get what the point is. Okay. I get that, then. Thanks.
    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
    • Day 1: Spent some time hitting some balls. Working on my hips and a “soft” and straight trail arm.
    • Slight digression on the way to my point. Back in the day there were a lot of people who said that Tiger won because of “the Tiger effect” where people pushed too hard and made mistakes trying to catch him and fell by the wayside. I thought that was BS. It was just that he was that much better than them. I don’t think anything has changed my mind on that.    The hype about Miles Russell is very limited. I’ve seen nothing about him outside of some fairly hardcore golf websites. But I think that the reason those people are talking about him is because he is very good. Same as Tiger. And like I said he just broke one of Tiger’s records. That gets hardcore golf fans to pay attention.
