Welcome to the "5 Minutes Daily" Practice Challenge for January, 2017! The rules are the same as always:

  • Make a somewhat detailed post describing your practice every day during the month.
  • No back-dating or pre-dating posts or practice sessions.
  • On the last day of the month, if you completed the challenge, post about it, preferably in red text or something so I can notice it and give you the award.
  • Detail what you did for at least five minutes of practice (indoors or out, with or without golf balls, etc.).

Enjoy and practice hard!

20 min alt Sklz swing trainer and 7 iron and driver

worked hard at taking a slower swing to make sure that path was inside to out. With Sklz and driver felt good path and worked on repeating at least 15 times (13 actually which is the number of drives on my home course)

did same thing with 7 iron only had less success.

trying to get the feel of club whipping thru

good start to New Year

Reviewed my latest evolvr video lesson. Did mirror work for about 10 mins trying to get the feeling of half swings. Spent 20 mins hitting 7 irons with that same focus. Stopping periodically to do the wall drill I have been working on for my pivot.

Worked 30 minutes on addressing the ball.  Concentrating on a more upright posture with hands closer in, knees slightly flexed.  Held static position (on and off) while observing mirror.

1/1: Just 5 mins with left wrist. Flat at top turning to slightly arched as I start downswing. Full shoulder turn helps keep wrist flat (and shallow club).

10 minutes of backswing work. Working on feeling more the right hip back versus dragging the hands back. This helps me set the club on a better swing path. Then some slow motion work on shallowing the club. I need to invest into a indoor putting mat. The carpet is not good for putting on.

1/1: Back in the mix this month. Game has been going really well lately. My (n)GIR numbers have gone up and it's highlighted my inability to chip and putt. Spent about 30 minutes in the yard working on pitch shot distances, shooting at different targets around the yard.

Got to get out on the course yesterday and worked on a few things. mostly working on syncing my body and giving myself room in the downswing. today i am analyzing some swings and writing out a plan for the upcoming week and what my thoughts are around my swing. More mental practice today, and then headed to the indoor range later on.

2. 100 slow swings (no ball striking) from alignment change position to a higher hand finish position.

Started doing this last winter and now again this winter. Eliminating my thought about ball flight (or lack of it lol) lets me concentrate on various pieces of my swing; hip turn, right heel (I'm a lefty) , strike location, overall feel.
