My Bucks finally have a player worthy of MVP talk!!!!

That's all I have to say for now.

Hoping this thread (because of his rising superstardom) becomes very long over the coming years.

I stopped watching the NBA when Oscar Robertson was still in Milwaukee and Kareem hadn't changed his name yet...  ;-)

I am looking forward to the Badgers having a good tournament though!

He had a particularly vicious dunk during the All-Star Game that Steph Curry had no desire to get in the way of:

No chance of a Milwaukee Buck winning the MVP trophy due to being a small market team in today's NBA.

Durant won it a few years ago. It's not like OKC is a huge media market.

Giannis won't win it this year because he's not quite the best player in the league. He's in the conversation, definitely, but he's not the front runner.

KD is much better than Giannis and he played for a contender. Giannis would not be the best player on about 20 teams right now. Just a bog fish in a small pond. He is good and fun to watch but will never win an MVP.

Of course playing defense in the all star game is a big deal, Giannis still needs to develop a perimeter shot and improve his defense and he should be in the discussion every year.

Wrong. He's top definitely 10 player in the league. Brian Windhorse said he's putting him 5th on his MVP  ballet.  Also he's 22 and the bucks look like a contender for the next few years.

I had no idea you were a basketball fan.  I am a fairly casual one but I do like it. :-)

If he continues to get better as he has done I definitely think the ceiling is pretty high.  Just think he could maybe be a bit better on the glass for his height maybe?  But I guess how he is used may hinder that a bit?  Small markets always get crap, you hear it all the time.  The big fish small pond comparisons are often a bit on the silly side.  I grew up in MN and they said the same thing about KG...then he went to Boston.  I am cheering for the Bucks now that I live in WI, but I sure hope my Wolves can figure things out eventually.  KAT put up 25 and 12 this year and I would love to see him in this conversation one day as the team improves.  Hopefully Levine can get healthy, he was just starting to learn to be more than a dunk specialist.  In the meantime, go Bucks!

I had no idea he averaged 8.7 rebounds per game this season until I just looked it up. That's really, really good considering they play him almost exclusively on the perimeter.

Yeah the more I think about it, and how he is used, I don't know that is actually gets much better than that...

Windhorst is just a Lebron fanboy; not a legitimate sports journalist.

...and the Bucks a contender? Come on man! No one contends from the East until Lebron leaves.

So him being a lebron fan boy has what to do with Giannis? Cav's are the class of the east this year probably next then we will see.  If Jabari ends up at 75-80% when he gets back after the all start break next year they will probably win a series. 2018-2019 if healthy they will contend in the east IMO. Lebron won't be Lebron in a few years father time is undefeated. Have you watched the bucks besides these 4 playoff games? I'm not asking to be a jerk I was just curious.

Probably 20+ regular season games. Windhorst is not a good journalist imo (as well as many agents I know personally).

Him being a not so good journalist means his opinion isn't valid? If you watched tonight your "big fish in a small pond" argument is ludicrous. Giannis is 22 and hasn't even developed a reliable jumper yet.  Your entitled to your opinion even though I don't agree with it in anyway.

Windhorst is not respected amongst his peers. That is what makes his opinion not valid.

Don't get me wrong giannis is good but not great. His is an athletic specimen. However he played 41 minutes and his team lost by 25.

I didn't realize 1 player could win in the NBA? How many titles did LeBron win without 2 all stars on his team?

    • Of course. I've used different words to start, but like 90-95% of the time it's been this one. And I'm unlikely to switch now.
    • Welcome to TST @Camjr.   We're glad you've joined.
    • Angle is not a factor. I hit the ball 100’ high. Par is net birdie. My CH is 16. The rough between the bunkers is like 10’ wide though. That’s not something you’re going to try to hit on purpose. Most of the area to the left of that is fescue/native vegetation and I’m pretty sure there isn’t a flat lie in any of it. It’s the second hole.
    • Hello all.  I'm about to be 57 yrs old, started playing when I was 16, and have quit and restarted the game more times than I can count.  I had started playing a weekly round with a friend, and finally made the jump to Senior A shafted Tour Edge clubs.  Instantly gained 10 yds with an easier swing (why didn't I make that jump sooner???).  Glad to be a part of the group. Cheers all,
    • I think I like this hole.  It is a clear "Risk-Reward" choice.  Since most of the shots in your cone cleared the bunkers I would say they are a minor risk and not a big issue.  Playing the aggressive line may give you 70ish yards in from what looks to be playable rough while conservative play is 120ish from fairway.  I know you said 70 vs 120 is minor for you but how does the approach angle in impact your results?  I figure both strategies are playing for Birdie since holing out from either is mostly luck. Looking at your proximity hole I think it says @ 50 feet when hitting from the fairway from 100-150 and 40 feet if hitting 50-100 from the rough.  Neither of those is an easy birdie putt.   I like the approach angle from the rough between the bunkers & the adjacent tees over the angle from @ 120 in the fairway but I really do not like the idea of hitting onto the adjacent tee boxes and that may impact my confidence with making the shot.  Also, too far left may be a worse approach angle then from the fairway short of the bunkers. For me this may come down to how confident do I feel when I reach that tee box.  If I am stroking it well off the tee leading up to the hole I would try for over the bunkers and the better angle in but if I am struggling that day I would likely opt for the fairway to take more bad stuff out of play.
