Hi all, was just wondering if anyone could give me advice with my swing, basicly im playing 7 months, practice alot, ive a strong grip, but i tend to slice esp with driver, i have a steep backswing im trying to learn to bump my hips to bring the club down more shallow but im finding hard to sequence it and im blading alot of shots in the process.

Is it ok to have a steep backswing and then a shallow downswing? i find it near impossible to swing back any flatter.

i hit my 7iron 165 on average and my club path is -8 on average, id like to learn to hit from inside to out.

Heres my attempt at trying to bump my hip to drop the club on downswing:

And heres one of my swing 2 months ago:

Thanks so much for your help!

Shallowing out on the downswing is a good thing. But in your case I think the downswing really isn't that shallow its that your backswing is so extremely steep you don't have have anywhere else to go.The camera angle and the way your feet are set up masks just how steep your swing actually is.

First welcome! Great iron swing for 7 months!

I won't comment on your particular steepness (backswing) or shallowness (downswing), but in general, that's quite a good combination to have. You definitely don't want to be shallow going back and steep going down.

I'll just point you to this thread in case it helps. You seem to be trying to use a hip bump to shallow the club, but there are many possible ways to do it. An instructor would know the best one that suits your current swing, but reading through this thread might help you get some background on going from a steep backswing to a shallower downswing:
