Extremely lucky shot today on the par 3 2nd hole. 172 yards, bunk in the front flag in the back right. Winds blowing right to left. 8 iron fade over the green, hits a tree branch and trickles down to 2 feet above the pin. Bird is the word.
I love gettin lucky

On Sunday had the kind of round a dog would curl it's lip at, but it rained during the round and I ended up in a bunker which had the consistency of thick porage on the 17th.......used a 9 iron and dug the ball out to within 3 feet and potted to get 2 points (stableford)

Had the longest drive I've ever hit today only to follow up with a perfect pitch to an inch.
Par 4 8th, 331 yards, top of the hill with a steep dropping fairway sloping left down the hill hard (if you hit a draw you're dead). The bottom of the hole is about 40-50 feet downhill and then it goes another 35-40 ft uphill to the green. I drove it from the tips to 15 yards of the green and then pitched it up for a putt that a stiff breeze could have knocked in. Drive must have been somewhere over 310, only to follow it up with another perfect shot. Definitely gave me something to gloat about.

watched my playing partner (a 19 yr old kid named drew) completely ignore a dogleg right by bombing it over the trees and onto the right side of the green... he even called it

I have two nominees from today's round.

Hole #6: 3 wood from a fairway bunker, it was a flat lie with almost no lip and I hit it about 210 yards and straight, that is my longest fairway bunker shot ever by 40 yards

Hole #7: sand wedge from 102 yards to the pin from a deep divot, I hit it ten feet past the pin.....then left the birdie putt on the front lip

in the bag...

Just played earlier today 9 holes, did pretty good, shot 46 (+10) but started out slowly, 4 consecutive double bogeys. Then I hit not just the shot of the day, the shot of my life to this point. A 177 yd par 3, took my 5 hybrid and hit it to 4 feet and tapped in the birdie putt, first birdie in over a month. Kinda kickstarted the rest of the day as I didnt play spectacularly after that, but did make 4 bogeys in a row to shoot my 46, had chances to save par but couldnt get up and down was actually a little discouraged I didnt save par on the last hole, had about an 8 ft putt for par that caught the edge of the hole and bounced out but overall a better than average day.

Nearly aced a 187-yard par three today. It's the 18th and it's right in front of the clubhouse dining room at the course I'll be playing in a tournament next week.

Nearly got an ace today on a par 3 course. It was the 17th hole and only 103 yards, but i hit a PW pretty good, landed 5 feet in front of the hole, bounced and rolled just to the right of the hole. Walked up to the green and it was 2 feet from the hole. Tapped in for birdie (got a 61 on the par 54!)

hit a bird yesterday... not a birdie... but a bird... lol...
there were a bunch of crows on the fw and i pulled 4h...
as soon as i swung and the birds heard the thwack... they and the ball took off in the air...
the unlucky bird got popped in the backside and spun around in the air till it recovered and flew away...
my ball however dropped like a rock 50 yrds short of the green

Playing alone, from the tips today, I played through a guy and his mom. After several holes of waiting behind them, they asked me through on #15.

I caught the top half of my tee shot and hit it about 100 yards total - to just infront of the ladies tee box. Embarassed, I hit a smooth 4 wood about 235 - to about 65 yards from the pin.

Third shot, 65 yard sand wedge, landed exactly where I wanted it, and rolled into the cup for a 3.

Today a had a good day on the course and a highlight was when I hit a 7 iron to the 6th hole par 3 and landed it 7 ft past the hole and it spun back to within 20 cms!

Short par 3 elevated green.
Hit a pitching wedge to within 5 feet and made the putt for birdie.

They say golf is like life, but don't believe them. Golf is more complicated than that.

Had a couple today, missed the green wide left on a par 4 by quite some distance on my 2nd shot, chipped it to 3 ft and made par. Was actually upset to make a par on one of the par 5's I played today, its a short one though, only about 450 yards. Hit a good tee shot(for me anyway) to about 210 out in the right rough. Hit my 3 hybrid to just short and right of the green but with the pin up front, was only maybe 30 feet from the hole. I really wanted to make a good chip but couldnt duplicate the earlier mentioned one, got it to within 15 feet and 2 putted and got par. Those were the best of the day, nothing spectacular, shot +13 for 10 holes (yes 10).

Superflopped one to 4 feet from 20 yards or so over a bunker to a shortsided pin to save par.

On a par 5, hit a fair drive that got a generous kick from a fairway bunker berm, left me 200 or so to the green. Maybe could have reached from there, but I decided to lay up and give myself a chance to hit close for birdie. 2nd shot ended up about 60 yds out, hit to about 4 feet and made birdie. 2nd ever birdie, and that turned out to be the difference as our team took 1st place, and I got low net as well.

    • Hello, I've been playing a Teardrop td17 F.C. putter for many years and love it. It still putts and feels as good or  better than any of the new putters I've tried and it's in excellent condition except the face has dings in it ever since I bought it used that kind of bother me. I was just wondering if it's possible to have some really shallow horizontal grooves milled into the face on a "roll face" putter. I think I would rather spend some money on it instead of trying to get used to a new putter.  Thanks
    • I agree with @klineka & @DaveP043 above.  When a new member first joins the club they cold be told that they are not eligible for tournaments until they have an established HCP.  As you said, it only takes a few rounds.  If they do not to post HCP that was their choice and choices have consequences.  If playing in the tournament is important to them then they should step up and establish an HCP.  Maybe they miss the 1st tournament, is that a real big deal?  And if it is a "Big Deal" to them then they had the opportunity to establish the HCP. As for not knowing how to report for HCP I assume your club has a pro and they should be able to assist in getting the scores reported and I suspect out of state courses may also have staff that can assist if asked.

    • Cool here's my tweak, "If a player’s ball lies in the general area and there is interference from exposed tree roots or exposed rocks that are in the fairway or 1 club length from the fairway the tree roots and exposed rocks are treated as ground under repair. The player may take free relief under Rule 16.1b.[But relief is not allowed if the tree roots only interfere with the player’s stance.]
    • I would never do the extended warranty on the $50 slow cooker.  I also routinely reject the extended service plans on those toys we buy for the grand-kids.  I do consider them on higher cost items and will be more likely to get one if the product has a lot of "Electronic Tech" that is often the problem longer-term.  I also consider my intended length of ownership & usage.  If my thought is it would get replaced in 2-3 years then why bother but if I hope to use it for 10 years then more likely to get the extension. I did buy out a lease about a year ago.  Just prior to the lease end date the tablet locked up and would not function.  I got it repaired under the initial warranty and would not have bought it out if they had not been able to fix it since IMO once electronic issues start in a car they can be hard to track down & fix.  They did fix it but when I bought out the lease I paid up for the extended warranty the would cover electronic failures because my intent is to keep that car for another 8-10 years and I just do not trust the electronics to last.  Last week the touch screen went black and was unresponsive.  It reset on the 2nd time I restarted the car but that is exactly how the last malfunction started.  I fully expect to have a claim on that on repair under the extended warranty.  I do not recall the exact cost to fix last time since I did not pay it but I think it was @ $700-$800 and I suspect that will be higher next time.
