I played a par 5 2nd hole at my course. It's something like 510-490. I hit a perfect three wood 230 around the hazard to about a foot short of the green. Two putt bird!!! Probably not that big of a deal to you guys but it was huge for me.

crappy tee shot on #3 leave me 160 into the wind ( normally90-110 to the pin) hit a sweet 6i that one hopped into the pin, ending up about 10' and I sank the putt!

playing on Saturday, having a decent round and came to the 2nd last hole, short par-3. Pushed my tee shot and had a horrible shot, about 15 yards to the pin with a deep bunker in between. Hit a perfect flop to about 6 feet. Missed the putt, but the flop meant I didn't make worse than bogey so I was happy enough.

I started out my '09 campaign by sticking it 10 feet from the hole on a 150 yard par 3 with a tough pin location. Naturally I 2 putted for par and the rest of the round went down hill from there, however I has pretty happy with my ball striking. The poor round in general was due to rusty short game issues that I need to clear up.

18th hole of a terribly awful round today. 205 left to the hole with water and a deep bunker guarding the front middle to right of the green. Pin in the middle of the green. 5 iron in hand and picture of a nice baby fade starting at the safe opening of the green working its way toward the pin in my mind. A practice swing, a look, and I pulled it off. Stuck the shot to 4 feet. And of course, as the way of the whole day, had the ball lip out on the high-side and end up coming straight back at me. OUCH! It was a gorgeous shot though.

par 4 #5 dogleg right... terrible tee shot onto the cartpath with a bad bounce into the woods... just short of clearing the dogleg for a clear shot of the green... it was either fit it thru an opening in the trees and go for the green... or layup away from the green and punch it back into the fairway...
decided to go for it... pulled my 3i... less than half swing... low trajectory... bounced off the flag part of the pin landing 6ft from the hole

Mine definatly came sunday. My chipping has been getting ALOT better!! Lately I have been chipping it within about 4 feet at the most but still have not holed out yet been really close but never made it in untill sunday. i had about I'd say a 15 yard bunker shot ball sitting up pretty good but a biglip to deal with the green was about eye level when I was over the ball so I had to get it up quick. So I took out the lob wedge and hit my favorite shot, opened the face and floped it right out and FINALLY it one hopped right into the hole!! Needless to say I freaked out it was great!!

Had a pretty good match going the other day with my regular playing partner. We get to 18 and I've got him by 1 shot. We both hit great drives. The hole is 416 yards from the back tees. I'm about 90 yards out and he's a couple yards in front. The wind is coming in at about 20 knots from right to left across the fairway. He's telling me he's going to birdie and I'm going to bogey. I take out my 56 wedge and stuff it to 6 inches for a tap in birdie and the V...lol. Wish that happened more!

played The Links at Summerly on Tuesday (my bday ), 550 yard par 5 into a slight wind. smashed 307 drive and it was about 3 feet away from the "burn" (which is a canal of rocks and considered OB), had to hit a 250 yard cut 5 wood with 2 small bunkers on the left front of green, one which was right in my path. landed it on green, 3 foot eagle putt, sank it.

happy birthday to me!

great links-esque course in Cali by the way for a great price.

I was at caddy training today and it was smashing raindrops like ive never seen. There were 4 players, and 8 caddies standing around watching the caddy trainer hitting his tee on the 155 yrd 3-par 17th hole. The guy smoked a 7 iron. It was a low semi-punch that pierced the air with a 3 yard draw. Ball landed 10 feet in front tracking the flagstick. One hop and drops in the hole. It was the only one Ive witnessed in my life, it was amazing.

Not a great shot compared to some, but it is the longest shot I've holed to this point. After hitting three awful shots on a short par 4, I was still 35-40 yards out (a bad tee shot, and a chunked pitch--don't ask) laying 3. Took a nice easy swing with the SW from just left of the fairway, bounced twice and was checking up right next to the flag, hit the pin on the second bounce and dropped straight in for the ugliest (or prettiest?) par I've made in a long, long time.

475 yard par 4 with a brook in front of the green, I usually lay up and forget the green in 2, hit a good drive of about 300 (roll carried it 50 yards), but the second shot I used a 6 iron and had enough confidence to go for the green in 2 for the first time playing the hole. Hit the 6 iron 175 yards to within an inch of the green (carried the brook easily), well pleased as i'd been working on the 6 iron with my coach and thats the best i've hit it .

413 par 4... terrible drive left me a few feet from the very forward teebox in the first cut of rough on the right...
got really pissed off and pulled my 3 hybrid out...
i laid into it...
i thought i lost the ball... hit a provisional... hit my 3rd shot from the provisional... as i was walking up to my 2nd ball... i noticed a ball on the right fringe of the green... it was my first ball... awesome shot

I hit the pitch and Putt by the house yesterday afternoon with my 4 year old son keeping me company. I am still terrible with my driver, So on the longest hole, 214 yrds, I teed up a 3 iron. The entire left side is water so normally I’ll play safe and shoot right and a bit short of the green, as the right side green is protected by sand. This is the first swing I’ve ever taken with my 3 iron. I just got it on Friday, as a single to help complete my set. This ball exploded off the club and went straighter than I could have hoped. It was easily going to carry the water, but I was a bit scared of the back bunker. I see it bounce on the green and a bit past the pin, but literally only 6 inches left of the pin, and about 6 feet past the pin. Putt for birdie went down easy. This 3 iron drive is probably my best golf shot to date. The next best cam one an fairway shot to the green. It was on a dogleg left, and I didn’t quite get to open territory. I was in the fairway, but I had to clear the trees in order to go for the green, over a 40 yrd creek. I figured my 8 iron would make the distance, but would it clear the tree? Well it didn’t quite clear the tree, I took about 3 leave off the top, and landed the green about 12 feet out. I couldn’t have asked for better results. I bettered my game by 4 stokes on my best score ever there.

I hit the flagstick on the first bounce from 118 yards with my 9 -iron (uphill into the wind). Actually a little disappointed as the flag killed the spin and the ball ran away about 15 feet, it would have checked right beside the hole otherwise. Anways was a very well hit shot and to watch it zone in on the flag did make my heart race a little.

Hit all four par threes in one (a first) - parred each; still had a couple 3 putt bogies; and blew up on 3 of the par 5’s (go figure)). The blow ups were some serious tree rattlers - amplifying how I got stupid and greedy instead of smart and content to just get back in the short stuff.
