Got my first Eagle on Sat.

293 to the hole.  Went over the trees this time and landed on the green 2 1/2' away.

Straight back, straight through and right in!  YES!

Par 3, 163 yards, nothing too fancy. Stepped up with an 8 iron, and just knocked it stiff to within a few feet. Would have been nice to have had my first ever hole in one, but oh well, someday, hopefully.

A good hole, period.

Started to feel really comfortable, so I crushed a driver up the hill to the middle of the fairway. I was staring down a front pin position so I took a little off a 7I and flushed it. The shot never left the flag.

The putt was probably eight feet (I should edit it, it's more than six), and broke almost two feet - it was between a 3 and a 4 on AimPoint. It went right in the middle.

A solidly played hole all around.

I was there to see, and it was an extremely well played hole, each shot played just about as well as it possibly could have been.

Tee shot on 18 (Chaska Town course).  Par 5.  I played the 2nd tees, so 521 yards.  50 degrees and SUPER windy.  Wind and cold was really making distance control and prediction hard.  hitting short with the cold.

Was hitting mediocre drives all day.  huge tail wind on 17 and 18 offsetting the cold ball losses.  This hole is a big sweeping curve left all the way to the green with a huge lake (then marsh) on the left.  They put a couple fairway bunkers and narrow neck at typical driving distance, forcing you to decide thread it through the neck tight to the water, or play safe to the right or short.

NAILED the slot and rolled out (even with cold golf balls and left a perfect lie at 195 from the green.  it's for me as that lake just sucks me in.

Went for the green and of course yanked it left....  fun day.

Forced to play from tees that are entirely too long for me, there wasn't a lot to choose from.

The best was probably my approach shot on Beavercreek Golf Club's par-5 No. 7 hole. Hit an ok drive and an ok 5W to set up a 160-yard effort at the green from the fairway. This is a 5I shot for me and that distance is generally a bit dodgy, but I smoked this one. It was one of the few GIRs of the round. Missed the 15-foot birdie putt by an inch or two.

Sorry this is not from this week but I saw this thread and had to post this shot because it might have been the best shot I have ever hit, especially considering the situation.

This year's Club Championship second round, I am leading by a stroke, and I hit my tee shot on the difficult 457 yard par 4, 8th hole left into the trees. Under those trees is a drainage area that looks a lot like a river bed, big rocks, etc. There is no relief from there, and I found my ball at the bottom of that drainage area. There was a big tree in front of me, so I couldn't hit my ball at the green I had to aim at the right edge of the right bunker, and I had to keep my shot low under the trees for the first 50-60 feet. To complicate that I was on a dirt lie at the bottom of this drainage area, and the green is elevated. I have 145 yards left to the pin. I hood a seven iron and hit a low screaming hook that lands about 20 yards short of the green runs up the hill and ends up 3 feet from the pin. 

The best part of this was the guy I was playing with, who was one stroke behind me, was in the middle of the fairway watching. I know he thought this was going to be a one or two shot swing in his favor. Instead I made birdie he hit his shot to 20 feet and two putted and I walked off the green with a two shot lead. I ended up winning by 4, but I truly believe that shot took a little out of him.

I made my first eagle today. 

Par 5, dogleg left. I normally try to get on in two by playing driver over the bunkers that guard the corner. That is a tricky shot because you can easily run through the fairway and then you're in a ditch.
Decided to play it safe today and just go for par: 6 iron off the tee, then pitching wedge over the trees to cut the corner. Leaving 126 meter (138 yards) to the pin.
Took my pitchin wedge again: one hop and in!

yesterday - super windy - into a quartering wind, nearly two extra clubs considering it's also under 50 degrees.  Approach to a small par 5 green with water on 3 sides.  stuck it.

Had 2 pretty solid shots in my round today.

First was on a par 3, playing just over 150 yards, slightly uphill and into a pretty strong wind. That is normally a hard 9 iron or easy 8 with no wind, but I went with a flighted 7 iron. Second was on the 18th hole. A solid drive left me with 100 yards to the middle of the green. Perfect lob wedge distance. Ball was sitting down in the rough though so I went up a club to my sand wedge, took a full swing with it, landed right in the middle of the green and released about 10 feet forward to being pin high about 5 feet right. Holed out a wedge from 120 today by spinning it into the back door.

The ball hit just right of the hole then spun back and disappeared.

My buddy said "where did it go" "did it go in"

I just grinned and said "I think it went in"

Got to play after a month off.  Dec in MN.  I've been drilling a more definite torso turn on my takeaway and it's paying off, but the 'learning curve' usual trouble with contact resulted - and with the could and tight lies, approaches were tough.  I had a troubled contact on a shot on every hole it seemed.  Still, I'm playing golf in Dec.  And with that, only one hole was a real blow up.

And, pretty much every shot when it's cold like this you need to hit FIRM or they feel like rocks.

Best shot - tee shot on 18.  Requires a big drive down the left with a firm fade on purpose (it's really your only choice on this hole, other options don't give much of an approach, I'm not a fan of the design since there's not really a 'conservative option') - Nailed it.  Nice to finish off the year with a regulation par.

There was a great approach on a difficult Par 4, but it wasn't anything special.  Just nice to hit round ball on the flat face after a day of thinning it.

Drive left me with a severe uphill lie on par 5 dog leg right. Aimed right at the green well to the right of the fairway, and cheated the leg by blasting a 3w over some trees, landing about 5 yards from the green.

I made the pilgrimage to Bandon Dunes recently and generally struggled pretty much on each of the courses. But, but, our last round was at Old Macdonald and we come to the 16th "Alps" hole. Drive goes left leaving a long way across the front of the big dune to the side entry to the green  through the gap.

So heroically, or foolishly,  I said to myself Why not have a crack at the dune? So I did, grabbed the 8 iron and flailed away. Perfect contact and somehow the ball sailed at a majestic height clear over the sand dune. My partner is almost at the green and I hear him shouting. 5 feet from the pin!!

I just love Bandon.

Pitching wedge from 125 yards, pin tucked front right behind a bunker. It was a scramble so went for it. Knocked it to two feet, and made the putt for birdie.
