Does anyone get the idea that technology has gone way too far?

Actually, my mistake, it was a ceiling mounted PIR sensor that isn't working reliably. Getting a new one installed.

Okay, I'm getting sucked into this whole Alexa thing.

I setup a few dimmer lights for some color tests in my lab. As opposed to making LED arrays and using various transistors and microcontrollers, I bought a whole mess of wifi dimmers and use Alexa to control some commercially available LED lights with all different colors and assorted white ones with different color temperatures.

This way I can change the setting hands free, and take measurements.

Other than Alexa not understanding some of my co-workers commands and him giving her the finger calling her a b**ch, I was able to teach her all the lighting levels I needed.

I'm currently writing a Python code hack of the light controllers originally written by some Russian or Latvian dude, so I can control them from within my program.

Okay, technology hasn't gone too far, yet. . .

    • Day 85 11-6 Flow drill today. Goal was to feel a good rhythm. Hit foam ball after every 5th practice flow swing.
    • Day 65 (6 Nov 25) - weekly nine hole session with my friends playing up a set of tees.  As always a casual session, got in some great course management work as I was dealing with some straight pulls off the tee, so recovery shots were the drills of the day.
    • Day 402 - 2025-11-06 Practiced for only about 15 minutes today. Used the mirror and foam balls. Backswing almost entirely. Helped @DrizZzY for some of the time after and before, too.
    • I agree. One of the main problems with the old UK system was how slow it was to catch up to changes in ability. The WHS reacts far more quickly in both directions too (maybe different at 20+ handicap, but below 5 it for sure does).
    • I know, and so he's got to consider that if his handicap went up FOUR strokes, it was through play likely quite a bit worse than even that, because that's into the soft cap, and so… keeping his handicap down at only 1 or 1.5 higher would not represent how he had been playing over 15+ rounds. Again, it's still fifteen rounds. And some really bad scoring for 15 rounds. He has an "outdated" definition of "quick." It is the way it is because of reasons, and my suggestion is that he consider them. Not just react with "this isn't like how it used to be…".
