Yes! That's exactly the point! The ball will break downhill, but course architects are masters at disguising which way is downhill. That's why I mentioned the example I did. You can put a green into a slope and make it appear that it will break opposite the prevailing slope, when in fact it doesn't!

That's why I learned to trust my feet more than my eyes!

I guess I might be the original AimPoint guru, but I wasn't smart enough to Trademark it, or market it!

I really think the announcers give a great disservice to the course designer when they don't point this out. I would rather hear them say, "Player X was fooled by the excellent green design that made him think the ball would break towards the water." But they always fall into the "Ball breaks toward Rae's creek" BS.

They are just keeping the audience dumb with myths.

I caught up to the tourney on highlights. Darn I missed a great round. Good putting, bad putting, mediocre putting, anybody still think DJ is not favorite for the Masters?

Sorry, I guess I don't find slandering a guy's reputation for long past mistakes funny. But I'll try to be more receptive to it

After seeing  all the stomach illness at this tournament does this mean that Mexico's water still bad? I remember during spring break back in the day, it was quite the painful adventure.

"My ball is on top of a rock in the hazard, do I get some sort of relief?"

A lot of places are like that. We were told travelling in China to even brush our teeth with bottled water. It is more that your system is not used to local water-born pathogens. The water is safe for the locals. I've not had issues in Brazil, Argentina, Europe, Australia and Singapore.

You would think that they would have been more careful...unless they were all doing upside down tequila shots.....not that I would know anything about this.

I really liked the 17th hole on that course.

Interesting,  another example of different strokes for different folks.  I thought it was pretty benign and boring.  165, playing like 140, no elevation change and I didn't like that crazy 1st hop at yesterday's pin position.  I play 10 holes just like it on my regular rota.

I did enjoy the course a great deal, however.  I guess #1 would be what I thought the most fun to watch (and to play).

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

    • I am a huge numbers guy and if a number can be applied to something, I want to know what it is.  Even in golf, I will pace off short chips as I have a 10 yard, 20 yard, and 30 yard shot whereas I take the club back a certain distance for each.  I have heard the comparison to basketball players that they do not know their exact distance to the basket, they just use their eye sight and adjust which I know a lot of golfers do as well when within a certain distance to the pin.  My question is, what is that distance for you?  I was at the range today and was hitting wayward  balls to a flag that I had no idea what it's exact distance was, I estimate that I was at times as close as 40 yards and as far away as 70 yards.  I was amazed at how accurate I was having not known the distance to the flag.  Temps me to not use my range finder within say 70 yards and go by look and feel.  What say you?
    • Well, it was yesterday but I shot an 88 at Lake Park GC in Lewisville, TX.
    • PXG Orlando, other locations I'm sure its the same, offers a full bag fitting for 25 bucks which is applied to purchase if you are a veteran or active duty, etc. Unfortunately I like my Titleist's.
    • Latest rumor is Clarkson, May and Hammond will have a new team on LIV.
    • That's not just sandbagging, that's cheating. Under Rule 3.3 for posting most likely scores, for example if there was a 2 foot putt for par, one can only take one extra stroke from what they lie, meaning par in that instance, not bogey. I didn't check the other instances but you can.
