Sorry to hear about your wife’s diagnosis. Cancer is a nasty beast. Hope you find relaxation in playing.

Posting here only for my own sake…in hopes to get me focused on something I enjoy.  Months ago, my wife was diagnosed with cancer and after multiple surgeries and hospital stays, I’ve played just two rounds all year. I hit on the range yesterday for the first time in a long time. Prob hit my driver as well as I ever have. My irons started out as a C- but graduate to a B+ by the end. My time has been focused and centered on my family (where it should continue to be), but I need to get back into things for my own sanity. I’ve never been able to get out much, but this is ridiculous

Sorry to hear that, Jonny. I hope the best for her. Your family is obviously the priority but yea you need to take some time for yourself, too, to be in a better position to support them.

Dittoing the thoughts of Scott and Bill. Take care of what you ned to take care of, but taking care of yourself IS taking care of others, because you're not going to be able to do what you need to do, to be who you need to be, if you aren't taking care of yourself as well. It's not selfish in the slightest to do a little to look after your own well-being (physical and mental).

Thanks guys - I’ve been absentee here for a while and I don’t like it.

2/23/25 - it’s been awhile (I’ve noticed I start quite a few posts with that). My wife is doing well! We’ve been blessed with how everything has turned out so far. But after playing just a few rounds all last year, I was looking forward to getting back out on the course. As Mr. Murphy would have it, I’ve had some chronic reoccurring golfer’s elbow intermittently flaring up for years, but have had pretty painful unrelenting bout now for 3 months despite typical conservative treatments of Ice, oral & injectable NSAIDs, steroid injection, physical therapy (to include dry needling and typical modalities) and as of last week, a PRP injection. No better. Holding out hope as the PRP injection can take a couple of weeks to take. While statistically most folks won’t need surgery, my last step is just that.  I didn’t even pay the $40 this year to keep my GHIN going since it’ll be months before I can hit a few balls.  No responses needed, not fishing for anything. Just posting since I’ve had nothing to post in a while.

I did want to say I'm glad/relieved to hear that your wife is doing well, and will send good vibes your way for your health and happiness.

Sorry, I missed your original post. Glad things are looking up with your wife's cancer. That's scary. Hope you can get back in to swing of things this year. I travel to Richmond quite a bit for son's soccer. I will reach out to see if we can get out together during one of the visits.

Elbow feeling better, hit some balls on range a few days ago, and spent 15-20 mins working on slow backswings, then hitting into net today

    • @dennyjonesand I are planning to stay in the Poland, OH area Friday night.  If any want to get together for dinner and/or drinks let us know. We are not sure exactly where we will stay or what time we will get there but if we can hook up with any of you it would be fun.
    • Yes, this was a competition for local golf professionals, so I knew he was at minimum a pretty competent player.  I also asked what kind of shot he needed to play, if he had wanted to go steeply down it could have altered my thinking.  But he needed a pretty level angle of attack to get the ball up, and have it stop near the hole.  Given those factors, and the depth of the grate below the ball, there really was no possibility that the grate would interfere with his swing.
