I wonder if it was because of missing the US Open or if it was indeed mutual and just time.

Or Phil realized that Bones was reading the greens all wrong?

This is shocking.  Would have figured they'd be together til Phil couldn't play or bones couldn't carry anymore lol.  Kinda dissapointed actually I always enjoyed listening to their conversations about shots

Sad news. I wonder if this is health related on either of their parts. Bones just had knee replacement surgery, and he's 51. Maybe he doesn't want to tear up his knees, given that Phil's already made him a bunch of money. Also, I wonder if Phil is going to back off his tournament schedule a bit a la Stricker?

I don't think Phil has given any indication about wanting to do that, he strikes me as someone who still has a hunger and desire to compete and win tournaments and majors.  Hard to do that if you play a light schedule.

Well, if he has problems with his arthritis, it might not be a decision he can control. I agree, though, I doubt he would go the full Stricker, but maybe he'll cut off 1/3 of his tournaments? This is pure speculation, so take it with a grain of salt.

Speaking of pure speculation, I'm seeing all over twitter that Bones will caddy for Jon Rahm now. Nothing solid, though, so take it with another grain of salt. Edit: Rahm quashed those rumors:

Shocked.

Long term, I bet it works out better for Bones, than for Phil though...

Just wondering...

First Phil skips the US Open, then he & Bones split...

Could he be thinking retirement? As we know very well due to the commercials, he has psoriatic arthritis. Maybe it's progressing & he thinks his competitive days are numbered so he will let Bones hook up with another pro.

I'm guessing he is going to hook on to another bag such a Rahm or another young gun.

I just have a feeling he may end up on Rahm's bag.......may not be immediate, but you never know

This must be what people felt like when Brad and Jen broke up.

But something tells me I'll be okay, guys... I'll be okay... :~(

Hehe. RIP Phil and Bones.

I feel like the game is passing me by...Tigers mug shot plastered all over apparently in a rehab of sorts.  Mickelsen getting older...

Golf may not see anyone dominate ever again like the past.  So much competition.  The new era might be this 'random winner' effect we have seen the last few majors...

Its sustained dominance which seperates the current crop from comparisons to Tiger.  What did Tiger go, 9 years without even missing a cut lol.  Here's Jordan, Rory, Day and Johnson missing cuts every 3 or 4 events it seems.  2015 Jordan looked like Tiger, then 2016 Day looked like Tiger, 14' was Rory, its just so unbelievably impressive that Tiger played at such an incredible level for so long

    • You might want to try a can of Bar Keepers Friend. Yes, it is abrasive, so just wet a sponge and dab it on. It has oxalic acid (no bleach like "Comet" kitchen cleanser), and it works wonders on stainless steel and other metals. Try it on a small area first to see what happens.
    • Fair   My uneducated thought: the big miss is the penalty area. If you want to optimize score, missing into the bunker (likely 5) is better than missing right into the penalty (possible 6). With that, your strategy seems sound and if you hit a committed shot, you get a bunker 5% of the time, take your medicine and hopefully get a putt for par but accept bogey. You may find yourself in a penalty situation 2-3% of the time and accept the associated outcome. The vast majority of the time though you are giving yourself a good approach shot into the green.
    • I walk 30 mins a day on my lunch break. It is not very intense (since i dont want to get sweaty in my work clothes), so just a touch above leisurely. 3 days a week I walk on the treadmill for 60 mins. I alternate the incline from 4 to 10 for a couple minutes, once every ten minutes. I lift my kettlebells nearly everyday. I have a couple complex routines. I find just 15 minutes and my heart rates is elevated
