Do you live in Central Ohio or are you within driving distance of same?  Mark down August 19-20 for some TST golf in the Columbus area.

We'll be playing a (mostly) Donald Ross course on Saturday and a semi-private course designed by John Cook.

Saturday, August 19
Dennison Golf Club
Granville, Ohio
First tee time: 1:00 pm
Greens Fees: $54

Sunday, August 20
Northstar Golf Club
Sunbury, Ohio
First tee time: 9:30 am
Greens Fees: $59

Please plan on arriving at least 45 minutes before your tee time. Both clubs require proper golf attire.

Post if you are interested in joining us.

Damn - I hate missing these, but that weekend doesn't work for me.  I have family in town, and Pirates tickets for Saturday night.

Ahh man! Thats the only weekend in August I wont be home. My parents are coming in from out of town and we are going out to the wifes family's lake house Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon.

If by chance the dates change then I'd be in for sure.

I'm bummed I was really forward to meeting some of you guys.

@georgep @iacas @saevel25 how firm is that weekend for everyone?

@mcanadiens is there a different weekend that would work better for you?

Like I had mentioned last night, that is the only weekend the entire month I won't be available. If the date is firm I understand I'll just try to make the next one.

As long as it's in the area, I can be pretty flexible. The one exception is the weekend of my club championship which I think is Aug 5-6.

Oh and to add one thought.

The closer it is to Troy (west of C-Bus) the more probable I can do both.

It's probably going to be toward eastern Columbus.

Pretty firm, because a) it's a month out, and b) I get really busy with the college team after that.

It may not happen this year, but… nobody really stepped up to organize anything.

I have a gig on the 19th so it'll be a late 3 am night for me.

I can't commit 100% to Sunday, but I'll put my hat in the ring as a maybe. As it gets closer I'll figure out if I can pull off the 2.5-3 hrs of sleep before driving down there.

@georgep is looking to finalize details tonight. We'll have this even with just eight participants due to the late notice.

I'm a definite for the Saturday round.

The Sunday round is going to be dependent on location and cost. I've got to be able to drive home Saturday night. Also, if the greens fees are upwards of $70, the budget won't allow a second round.

Course information is now listed in the OP.

We'll have a mix of the old and new for this get together.

Dating to 1924, Dennison (formerly Granville GC) has some brutal greens when they're rolling fast. There's a definite Donald Ross feel to most of the course. It's one of my favorites in the area.

Northstar is relatively new (just 10 years old) and was designed by John Cook. It can stretch to 7,500 yards and has some holes that can really beat you up. If you're not hitting it straight off the tee, you may want to bring an extra sleeve or two.

Hope you can join us! Add your name to the list and whether you can make one day or both.

    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
