They were taking drone footage and professional-quality video and photography of the round; they weren't just playing golf.

His buddies aren't golfers either, plus course wasn't busy, which makes sense at 8pm.

No, I wasn't kidding.

Guess I just didn't realize that it took 3+ hours to drive a drone around a bit while playing golf.   I would've thought the editing and audio mixing would've been done afterwards. ;-)

They're 6 hours ahead of us. 8:00 PM start time is like 2:00 PM here, perfect if you're jetlagged :-)

I was thinking that. If you were flying from the east coast, "not really" a late tee time until you've adjusted.

My thoughts exactly! It took you 6:45 to get to the 18th tee?! The guys in front of you must have been hitting the aquavit pretty early!

Did you actually read the article?

With no one in front or behind us, we took our sweet time on this stretch taking photographs, drone shots, hitting multiple shots, and doing everything we could to soak up this environment. The other guys had run out of balls by the turn, and even though they were only planning on playing nine holes, they grabbed beers in the clubhouse and came out to walk the other nine with me.

Oh, and...

The sun is back out in all its glory. I’m finished on the 18th, but I grab a wedge and head back out to the signature second hole to play it one last time.

And...that 2:45am was on the second tee, after he was done playing.  He walked back just to take the picture.

This wasn't a normal round of golf.  If it were me out there, I probably would have taken even longer...the author got "tired" and quit.  I would have given myself a few days beforehand and fully adjusted to a day sleep schedule just so I could take the full night out there.  I once sat in the bed of a rented pickup truck, in Wyoming, taking nighttime photography for 6 hours...and that was without any golf!!!

Very cool! Flying out of Copenhagen to Reykjavik a few years ago, and there was not a cloud in the sky as we flew over Norway. I was glued to the windows, such a beautiful place from above, so I told my wife maybe we should look at a Hurtigruten cruise; hope they have clubs onboard.

Good fun, thanks for sharing!
