Want to pick Jason Day @ PGA Champ, but his back and mental issues give me pause.

SEE? I'M NOT WATCHING! I'm a jinx! Maybe I should just watch it later, lol.

Rickie Fowler was right there.....and then the Green Mile happened. And once again, in another major, Rickie Fowler is gonna come up empty again, but yet some people want to anoint him as one of the best players in the world. I like the kid and all, but from a golf perspective, let's please give up this dream that this kid is the next big thing. He is Andy Roddick Pt. 2.

Yeah Rickie is overrated for sure. I bet on him this week and he does what Rickie does. He doesn't make the clutch par putt and makes a double late when he has no business doing so. I think he is great for the game and a great person, but he seems to play scared to me. Part of it for me was when I went to round 4 of the Phoenix Open a few years ago when he laid up from 240 on a par 5. He had to hit no more than a SW and it rubbed me wrong.

He's the 10th ranked player in the OWGR... he IS one of the best in the world.  Don't take away his talent simply because he hasn't won a major yet.  I don't think anyone in the last 4-5 years has called him "the next big thing" either, seems as though you're the one keeping that alive.

Best Score 2017:  82 (Traditions at the Glen, Par 70)

Favorite Course - Conklin Players Club (Par 72) - Best Score 86

I like Day well enough, but it was painful to watch his finishing quad, along with the incredulous commentators (before Day's 2nd shot). IIRC Faldo even said something like 'this is going to be entertaining.' Ouch...

I think JD definitely did better than expectations. I mean his 3rd round hole 18 was a major f*** up, but otherwise he played well enough to stay in it. No real health looking issues. I'd say mentally, he was ok. Game plan terrible, but ability to keep his head on straight, good. He'll be back in it for this years playoffs.

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? TIGER WOODS' AMATEUR VICTORIES YEAR WIN(S) 1984 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1985 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1988 Boy's 11-12 Junior World Golf Championships   1989 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships   1990 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships, Insurance Youth Golf Classic   1991 U.S. Junior Amateur, Boys 15–17 Junior World Golf Championships, Orange Bowl International Junior Look at some other AJGA Players of the Year. How many of these names do you recognize? A few, for sure. I assure y'all, I'm not trying to pee in your Cheerios. I just don't get what the point is. Okay. I get that, then. Thanks.
    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
    • Day 1: Spent some time hitting some balls. Working on my hips and a “soft” and straight trail arm.
