I have nice little sports bar I frequent. I have a favorite, over stuffed chair I usually use. I have 4 flat screen TVs I can clearly watch. All of them have different sporting events I can watch. If I turn my head just a bit more, I can watch a 5th TV if need be.

The last few evenings there has been preseason nfl, mlb, nba reruns, pga stuff, and the Little League World Series. I find myself watching the LLWS mote than the others by a wide margin.

Just watching those youngsters play for the pure fun, and love of the game is my sports drug of the moment. They play hard. They are friendly to a certain extent to the other teams. They make a few mistakes, but they also make some spectacular plays too. Happy winners, with heart broken losers. Smiles and tears. Just  good play, and viewing of one of America's best sports.

I hope others on TST are taking in few of these games.

Son is just really getting into baseball this year and is in little league, and the west team is from the town right next door to us so we'll definitely be watching.

We watched their last two games this week and, in fact, were it not for previously made plans for last night we were probably going to go watch the regional championship game live.  (SB Ian an hour away). Although the place looked packed so we may not have got in.  There were 10k people there!

We never miss the LLWS. It's the purest form of sports, in my opinion.

Before relocating in 2010, they used to hold the Little League Southern Regionals in the complex behind my old house in Gulport, FL. It's the same field my brothers and I played on when we were that age.

I coached pitchers, from Little League to High School, for a period of ten years.  During that time I developed a "par" concept.  Par is five pitches per out.  If a pitcher gets above five pitches per out...that pitcher is throwing too many pitches.  This holds true from Little League to Major League Baseball.  An error, that would otherwise have resulted in an out, adds one...i.e. 20 pitches and 4 outs is par.  Do yourself a favor and keep track of this.  It matters not what level of baseball you are watching.  Inning to inning is not definitive; but a pitcher who is consistently "over par" is coming out sooner rather than later.

    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
