Can't top that.   That's pretty amazing.   I'd pick up after a few and move on!

The Flint Golf Club has one 453 and one 454 par 4.   That's the longest I've seen.   Of course we didn't play that distance.

Wow, bogey is impressive on that hole.  I saw on the European tour theres a 783 yard hole that can play 800+ yards and plays as a par 6 at a course they played at. https://www.golfdigest.com/story/783-yard-par-6-almost-longest-hole-ever

Yikes man, that's ... nicely done.  I'd be ecstatic with a 7 from those tees.  Is this the course I think it is?  I haven't played there in years, but the white tees scared me.  I wish they'd do a combo of the white & gold tees.

@Golfingdad cool that you only had 165 left for 3rd in though. Too bad you bladed it. IIRC longest par 5 I have played is 'only' 620. I think came away with a bogie as well...

Yeah, I think realistically I would not be in a position to reach the green with my third shot probably 7, maybe 8, times out of ten.

I mean, it's darn near a 250 yard carry just to reach the fairway from back there. Anything less than that, unless you get lucky and land on one of the forward tees, is going to be either an awful lie at best, or more likely an unplayable or lost ball in the native gunk.

Id bet over time, if I played this hole from those tees often, I'd average over 7. (I'd probably average an "x" :p)

I think you're selling yourself short there. I think you could average high 5s.

Yeah...

If it were a 500 yard, relatively open par-5, you'd likely expect to be in the high 4's, right?  Unless there's some other trouble I'm missing, all you're adding is an extra 200 yard shot in the middle of that.

Not gonna see a lot of birdies though! ;-)

Ah, so it wasn't the course I was thinking of.  If Los Serranos is worth playing (I forget if it's actually a good course), you could try this on one of the par-5s of whichever course stretches.  Won't be quite as long though.

I looked up Los Serranos and they have a 677 yard par 5. :). They also brag about being the longest course in California, which seems to be outdated now because this course I just played is 50 yards longer.  And Los serranos "cheats" because they are a par 74 with two extra par 5s.

I feel like Torrey from the tips might be longer as well.

I think statistically nailing two good shots of over 250 yards in a row has gotta be top 3 hardest things to do in all of golf.  Anytime you do that I would think you gain at least a smidgen over a stroke on the field.

What are some other crazy holes you guys have seen?

We have a course in the area that advertises their par 5 at "666 yards".  Brae Burn.   I have played there once.  It is a double dogleg and after a good drive and second shot, which both cut the corner, I had a 4 iron approach (back when I carried a 4 iron).

I doubt it was playing 666.  Anything over around 600 yards and I  may need to hole out my 4th for birdie from well off the green.

First hole at Talamore is a 609 or 623 (depending on which tees we play) yard par 5. :-P

Next time you play Talega, just treat it as a 17-hole course and go from the 11th tee to the 12th green and see if that's a long enough par-5.

The International Pines course in Bolton, Massachusetts is 8,325 yards long from the tips and it's a par 72, their longest par 5 is 715 yards and longest par 4 is 567 yards!

Wow, that's a long par 5.  The longest regular par 5 that I can recall playing was 625 yards from the back tees before the club renovated the hole.  Most people could not carry the ravine so they had to bring the tee box forward.  Now it is "only" 607 from the back tees.  I didn't play that set of tees very often.

Think I played a 650 par 5 once when the course had been lengthened for the PGA Tour Championship.  They were letting members of the course "test" the new tee box for one day, and I got to play as a guest of a member.  With that length and super high rough think I took an 8 or 9 and was pretty happy.

    • Probably had my best shot of the week/month/year/life today. I was hitting block fades with driver all day today (well each of the 5 times I hit driver anyways), so on #18, I predictably hit a block fade over the trees on the right of the hole onto an adjacent fairway. If you hit the ball far enough to get past the trees, you have an unobstructed approach to the green, but the green becomes shorter front to back than if you are in the right fairway due to the bad angle. I was about 135 yards to the hole, slightly uphill (I could see the top half of the pin). Without my PW I had to hit a partial 9-iron. I flushed it and the flight of the ball never left the flag. I almost wanted to do a Tiger club twirl and start confidently stalking after the ball. I saw it hop once and then lost sight of the ball behind some mounds. Walked up to the green and saw my ball peaking out of the cup atop the pool noodle. Pitch mark was about 8 feet from the hole. First eagle since I was in college 20+ years ago.
    • 97, 51/46 with a 10 on a par five on the front (3 water balls). First time playing this course, Maccasin Run in PA. Beautiful track. Absolutely pristine.  Grass everywhere even in the rough. Leaves cleared off. Tightly mown. No excusses for hitting a bad shot.  Weather low 50s with a slight breeze.
    • Shot an 86 today, with 13 GIR/nGIR, 29 putts, and 2 penalty strokes. Only carried 8 clubs today (Driver, 3-hybrid, 5/7/9-iron, 50/60 degree wedge, putter), so hit a lot of partial shots, which I enjoyed. Overall golf was very solid, but I had two bad holes where I was +7. First one was on #1, where I blocked my drive down the right side, bounced off a cart path into the ether, so dropped with a 2 stroke penalty. Then my approach (4th stroke) got rejected by a branch, and 5th shot was over the green. Pitch on and 2 putts for an 8 (+4). Second one was on the par-3 7th. Another block, this time with 5-iron, also caught a cart path and bounced about 30 yards past the green. Rushed my 2nd shot since I was standing in the playing line of golfers on another hole and came up well short. Another pitch landed short, and finally a pitch onto the green and 2 putts for a 6 (+3). Finished the round with a hole out for eagle on the 18th which made the round very satisfying overall.
    • Holed out an approach for eagle in today’s round. I think it’s been over 22 years since my previous (and only other) eagle.
    • Day 352 Played 18 today. Really stiff and sore from painting and moving furniture around all weekend, so only carried 8 clubs. Focused on good takeaway/backswing and tempo. Played pretty well, except for 2 holes where I was +7.
