Nah it's a 1 on 1 session. Like I said, it's a lot cheaper because I'm not from the US.

i dont get it. are you saying that golf lessons are more expensive in the states than wherever you are from?

Yeah, that kind of lost me as well.

Q, you're most likely a reasonably intelligent guy, so you'll be able to figure out pretty quick if this guy is full of BS. I'm not telling you to make a snap judgement. Many times you'll get worse before you get better. Just listen to what the man is telling you and see if it makes sense to you. Hey, you can run it by us here, that has happened before. I remember the thread where the guy's instructor was trying to get him to stand like a foot from the ball! That made sense to no one.

If you really don't understand it, ask him if he can demonstrate. But, that's not always a guarantee either. I remember seeing a film clip with Tiger Woods and Butch Harmon, when Harmon was his coach. Hmmm. Consider that statement. Tiger Woods "needed" a swing coach! And I don't remember where I read this, but the article stated that a good swing coach can tell you more about your swing in 15 minutes, than you can figure out in a whole Summer going it alone.

Anyway, it had to do with Harmon coaching Woods against "crossing the line" at the top of the backswing. They were joking around with each other, and Woods handed Harmon a club and told him to swing it back to the top. Sure enough, Harmon was across the line! He couldn't do what he was telling Tiger to do. But, he knew enough about the golf swing to know that crossing the line was something you did not want to do.

Just because you can do doesn't mean you can teach. Just because you can teach, doesn't mean you can do!

Please let us know how it goes.

Yes definitely. The top pros here charge probably $40/session. Partially because the top pros here are definitely not as good as the top pros in the states. But also partially because it would be extremely difficult to establish a client base in a much smaller country if your rates are the same as that of a developed country like the US.

Granted, its easy for me to spend YOUR money, but if youre a beginner and hitting the ball badly on the range, why would you consider NOT taking lessons? Whether it's from the pro you're considering or someone else, it's  got to be easier to learn to hit the correctly from the outset than have to try to unlearn hitting it incorrectly.

    • It's been a little more than a year since I can last remember hitting golf balls and today I just got my second cortisone injection in 11 months. I thought maybe shortly after the first injection I was going to be able to start playing again with therapy but the pain while doing my backswing past halfway just didn't subside like just lifting my hands up in the air did. So today the Orthopedic surgeon put more in the backside of the shoulder than before to address the tendon more. I'm going to try therapy for another 3 months and if I  can't swing the club without pain then I think surgery is going to be my next option.
    • I was just down visiting family in southern California and we played a couple rounds of golf. I hit my ball into the deep rough near some tree's and my cousin's husband offered me his Sim 2 Rescue Hybrid to try out. And I felt the same way, wow! I loved it, it also had a Pure DTX grip on it which I loved. As soon as I got back home, I ended up buying two used Calloway Rogue X hybrids, 3 and 5. So far I've only tested them out at the range, but I love them. They're much more forgiving than irons for me.
