The towels demonstrated in the NewPort Cup looked great.

I agree. I'm especially interested in the magnetic latch which apparently can be purchased separately.

Yea that's what I'm talking about. When I first saw them in the Newport Cut tweets, I thought they were part of the towel, but then I looked on their website and found out they are separate clips. I'm probably going to buy at least one and then I won't have to carry a terry towel around anymore.*

*It's annoying remove my clip towel from the carabiner I have it attached to so I leave it attached to my bag and carry an extra towel with me onto greens.

Now wait a second since when does tucking in your shirt make you a nerd, I would say the opposite is true. Have you watched the PGA TOUR? An untucked shirt makes you a slob.

Also, why would I take my alignment sticks out of my bag to go play golf?

?? what is this "PGA TOUR" thing of which you speak?  is it some kind of underground power organization bent on world domination?

OK confession time: I have two towels; one I "trade" with the golf course. It's the cheap disposable type with a grommet hole for clipping onto a ball washer. I use it for cleaning clubs, balls and what-not. When it gets really dirty I come up to a ball washer that has a clean one attached to it and swap. (Not steal...SWAP.)  I also have numerous terry cloth golf towels with grommet holes given to me at a golf outings for wiping off sweat. When it gets really funky after a few weeks I rotate it with another clean one. Finally an old uncle just recently gave me a shammy with a grommet hole, which I had never seen before. I'm debating if I need to attach that too. I think there's something in the Rules of Golf against having three towels though. I replaced the tinny towel clips that quickly get bent out of shape with carabiner type clips sold near Home Depot cash registers.

Finally, adding to the dorkyness factor, I have plastic tubes for my clubs in an overly large and heavy Ogio bag although someone recently told me that you shouldn't use them with graphite shafts because the plastic will wear down the graphite.

Alright, I've heard a LOT of silly beliefs/thoughts with respect to The Rules, but this one might be the funniest/most unusual...

Have no fear.  The Rules stop short of dictating how many towels you can carry on the course. :-)

You"re serious? Really? The Rules don't address the towel issue????

Why I had no idea!

(My wife often tells me that my sarcastic "humor" is often misunderstood. I guess I should have inserted a smiley face.)

Ha!

I guess I should've known, but then again, anyone claiming to still use individual club tubes could be capable of anything! ;-)

Easier to fall off, too.

    • You all are right, its not that big of an issue, I'll leave it alone, especially after looking at that picture of Tigers beat up putter. But I also noticed the small circle worn on the sweet-spot where he hits it every time, I definitely don't have one of those. Thanks for the replies
    • Committing to one brand of ball this year - Snell MTB Prime X, the 5 doz. pack. Like how they perform for me. At $18/doz., can live with cover scuffing. Iron regripping with GolfPrice MCC+4 Teams std. in red/navy. May be retiring Odyssey Dual Force after 30 yrs. Seems like I can't get it to the hole anymore. Kind of light and has lots of toe hang. My reg. group's hounding finally wore me down.    From Callaway preowned - trying out the Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K in double wide (less toe hang) and triple wide (face balanced). Both also noticeably heavier...we shall see.
    • WOW, it looks like he has been hitting stones with that putter to put all of those nicks into it.  I can't see how a ball would cause many those dings.
    • I'm fighting a knee as well as a foot so I "Feel your pain".  Luckily for me the PT is helping at this time and I am hoping knee surgery is not imminent.  Best of luck to you.
