The West Coast looks really sharp today in their @PingTour apparel with custom #NewportCup logo #playyourbest

Many thanks to @RandallT for the on-course pics and leaderboard updates...

Love the Match Ups for the singles today. Although as much as I like my buddy @DaveP043 I have to root for @mchepp and the rest of the West Coast.

 to all the Newport players in this great event and thanks to all the Sponsors....

The challenges should be fascinating. Our hunch is that there will be many challenges on the difficult par three 17th, but each team will make decisions independently (and could vary based on conditions as they go).  6 points up for grabs with the challenges in today's matches. Reminder, the yellow ball will be played alternate shot and team that shoots par or better (net) gets the point.

The first of the 6 challenges! Good choice for BLUE here as they now gain a point.

As the groups all pass the turn, we'll post the updated leaderboard. Should be fairly soon as the foursome with Matches 1/2 (Dave P, Jim, Michael, Kyle) made the turn not long ago. RED was up in both of those matches.

Thus far, RED has widened its 1pt lead heading into today by 1 more point.  With the first Snell Get Sum Optic Yellow Ball Challenge going to BLUE, there are 5 points left for challenges. Of course, 12 points are left for the matches.

    • Did they blue screen in that golf course? Something just seems off to me. At first, I thought it looked like a really good video game cut scene.  I think they look very hi definition, and the background looks less so.  The physics of the golf ball look off. You can see the golf ball just start to plummet out of the air right after he hits it.
    • I had the chance to play Southern Pines this weekend...it's REALLY good.  A solid 8/10.
    • Played Umstead with my brother again today.  I shot 40-42 for a solid 82. The front was consistent, four bogeys and five pars. A par on the par-5 ninth was a bit disappointing since I was on the fringe in two with about a 15-footer for eagle, but it is what it is. On the back I made two doubles on 15 (jail on approach shot) and 16 (drive hooked OB) but otherwise solid: five pars and two bogeys. So I was able to keep huge numbers off the card for the most part. It was a fun day. My brother also reached a milestone today: he went 46-43 for 89 and broke 90 for the first time! He only had one really bad hole (tripled 5), and a birdie on 10 jumpstarted him. It was fun to watch! I’m playing Hillandale with a buddy tomorrow morning, so stay tuned!
    • I just sent these into Evolvr, so I'm not asking for comment, so much as using this thread as a swing diary whenever I remember to do so.   and
