I have two misses with my driver and I was wondering if they could be related despite being very different misses.  I hit about 50 % of fairways and driver is my most inconsistent club.  My misses are either a slice or a pull.  Has anyone else struggled with something similar and know what causes it?

Learn how ball spin works. Why a ball curves in the air, and how to curve the ball both ways. I dropped my scores from around 100 to 92 because I could control my ball flight. Plus short game now I'm able to shoot low 80's.

Learn to curve the ball both ways on command. Then play for it. If you're hitting 50% fairways that's perfectly fine too, as Jason day only averages around 56 percent, with the best on tour around 65 percent.

Overall I wouldn't worry about this too much. Play golf, go out and score. Don't focus on mechanics or how inaccurate you are, because 50% isn't inaccurate. I'd love to hit 50 percent fairways. I just hit a lot of greens, with no putts made, so I still score low 80's. But all this worrying about mishits...

I pulled a few drives today. It's golf. You're never going to be perfect, might as well live with it. Work on where you're wasting strokes, as long as you're not OB with your drives, you should be fine. Short game, Iron play, sounds like your driving is a strength.

Once again, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

But if you want more control, learn to curve the ball both ways.

Thanks for the feedback.  I guess the part I struggle the most with is the fact that I have this type of control with my irons, but not with the Driver.  Trying to understand why I struggle so much with that club only.

Take a lesson?

Also, I caution against learning to work the ball both ways. It's a bit of a jack of all trades, master of none situation. Become good moving the ball one direction. Play that as your stock shot 95%+ of the time.

I suggested he work the ball both ways, but I can also agree with this. I play my fade 95% of the time, I only hit a draw when absolutely required. But I can certainly move it both ways on command, and exact amounts. But as I said, I prefer a fade, and that's what I hit.

    • Played 27 Holes today made 7 birdies today finally birdied the 1st, just the second and third left to birdie.
    • I’ll pass that along to him and his people.  👍
    • Played my second round (ever) at the course that I think will be a home course for me next year (the complex has two 18s... I have played the other 18, but not in over a decade).  Birdied #13 to improve my away composite to five birdies and a total of -4 (I still have yet to par a hole nine in 2021 ... anywhere).  My two-round composite at that course is a 77.  By contrast, no birdies so far at my home course (well beyond two rounds played... and at least three scheduled in the next two weeks!), and three holes there I've yet to par.
    • Jesus, it’s not just white people who are offended. Just because he isn’t doesn’t mean many more native Americans are not. This line of logic is just idiotic.
    • I talked to my buddy, 100% Navajo, about this thread.  His response was to shake his head, laugh and say “Leave it to the arrogant white man to tell us what we should be offended by…” Just thought I’d share.  I’m sure the arrogant white men here will continue to tell him he’s wrong though…  😂
