I'm not necessarily sure that Tiger's childhood necessarily translated into his issues later in life, at least in terms of infidelity. It's possible that he was exposed to a lot of it since he grew up around the military, but there's certainly no indication that it was present in his father to set an example for him.

Whether it is accurate or not, the book said that his dad was abusive, and unfaithful to Tiger's mom.

Abusive towards Tiger is somewhat plausible, in terms of just the fact that he put Tiger through a hell of a lot for him to get to the place he's at now.

As far as unfaithful to his mom, I can't find a single other source mentioning that (at least not in the first page of Google results in 2 searches).

Really? I just googled “Earl Woods womanizer” and a bunch of non-recent results came up.

I found it amusing that Earl Woods is buried in Kansas in an unmarked grave. I guess all that cheating on his wife didn't really pay off in the end. Sounds like he had a good time though. He sure took a lot of the credit for Tiger becoming the golfer he has become.

I read your post a long time ago and figured "eh, if he doesn't think its worth a read then I won't bother". What a mistake on my part. This book is awesome. Simple stuff like the team that had to be built when he went pro. Now I know what to do when I win the lottery. The journey he took as a kid going to all the tournaments and winning all the time. How Earl convinced or "sold" himself and Tiger for free lessons and then all the tournaments, travel, etc. all paid for. I would definitely recommend this book. Anybody that read this book and the only takeaway is "oh I still think he did PED's" is a simpleton. There's so much more about Tiger, his mom and dad, his relationships with girlfriends and business partners and the way he ended those relationships. I could write a book about the book.
