Nah, he wanted to get together and play a round somewhere in between...around Charlotte.  Our schedules (mostly mine) hasn't really been favorable for that!

Yeah, I was really hoping me and @NCGolfer could meet up for some golf in Charlotte and exchange the cup. Unfortunately we couldn't get our open dates to jive.

Since Thanksgiving is coming soon, and I'll be headed back to Talamore, I got to thinking of the Newport Cup, and the Cup itself.  We're a year later, I'm still hoping to see photos from @NCGolfer, @cipher, and @bkuehn1952 with the trophy.  Here's hoping everyone has had a great summer!

Okay, @NCGolfer…?

I've got it.  It is resting comfortably at home on a shelf next to my Pinehurst collection.  Appropriate since that was the area of its last tournament (and victory.)  Hoping to take it to the scene of the 1974 PGA Championship (Tanglewood) where Lee Trevino held off Jack to win.

While at the Newport Cup the Blue team was so wonderfully managed by @iacas, however, since that win they have horribly mismanaged the handling of the Cup tour.

I'd rather have @iacas be wonderful at managing the Newport Cup win than managing the Cup tour @mchepp.  😉

Can I be bad at both? 🙂

I don't think you have it in you to be bad at these things.  Unfortunately, we players have to manage the Cup Tour, and as a group we're not quite as reliable.

The Official Box of the Newport Cup!

Does the guy who escorts the Stanley Cup around (Phillip something?) have a brother? 🙂

That thing would have to get dropped from 50 feet to take damage.  I was about to throw the box away and thought it might be a perfect fit.  Our under-sink water filter could double as the trophy if need be.  🙂
