I received the Cup a couple days ago and was very excited.  I figured the best way to spend a day with the Newport Cup was on the course!

I immediately decided the University of Michigan's course would be a great place to play.  The course is located right across the street from The Big House.

There was no warming up on the practice green

Ultimately, the clubhouse staff told me to go home, take the Cup with me, and come back in May.

Undeterred, I made the cross town trip to my "Home Course", Leslie Park Golf Course.  Things looked promising.

But then the reason for the empty parking lot became clear.

No golf at Leslie for a few more weeks.

Still, I was optimistic.  Fox Hills remains open year round.  Surely I could play a quick nine there with the Cup.

So I settled down in the nearest snowbank and enjoyed a cold one.

Truthfully, it was a great day and The Newport Cup was a nice companion.  Yes, we got a few odd looks during our adventures.  I imagine everyone probably wanted to know how I acquired such a cool looking companion but were too embarrassed to ask.

Everyone should try to make one of the 2019 Newport Cup teams because having this little pewter trophy in your hands is worth the effort.

How many frosties did the Cup have?

Hmmm...I. Don’t see any posts form @cipher

The NC was 2017, I got the cup Feb 2019.  There was a foot of snow and I had a broken bone in my left hand, so there wasn’t much for me to do with it and it was a bit past the point as well.

You could have still done something with it, had a little fun. You earned it.

But oh well.

Tried to do some winter disc golf but the photos just didn’t turn out very interesting.  Would have loved to take it to the indoor golf simulator or something like that.

    • Even in a big city, trying to ban guns only helps the criminals. Criminals don’t turn in their guns, only the law abiding citizens which are being unarmed. Pretty simple stuff.
    • Day 159.  Periodic 6-iron shots (at least one block of at least five minutes) during breaks in a long meeting schedule.  Indoors, off a mat, into a net, priority piece related to backswing length. I also tried quarantine day 13 drill (high pitches/flops), something I don't know how to do, and I think I was doing the drill wrong.  All my shots went left.  Thankfully, I was using foam balls.  I'm going to review the video later (time permitting), along with what people tried when those drills were released and see if their feedback applies to me, and try again
    • I changed out the the bag this year going over to Ping from primarily Tayormade clubs. Driver: Ping G-410   12 degree Ping G-410  5wood Ping G-410. 7 wood Ping G410. 5 hybrid Ping G410 5 iron to PW   I was fitted to play Orange dot which is 2 degrees flat for my irons. Playing around with the adjustable driver and metal woods. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
    • It was a new course.  You get a pass.  Next time you need to keep it around 3 hours.  😁😉
