Day 14:

10 minutes or so of work in the mirror just practicing elbows close together feel. Using a ball for a bit first then not using one helps translate the feel better.

Day 2.  15 balls of pitching practice, 52 degrees, half swing.  I missed nine greens yesterday and only got up and down for par twice:  once was by making a 17' putt, another by putting from the fringe.  Short game was the only area in which I did not get a better SG than a 15 hcp.

Day 336

Worked on 1/2-3/4 swing punch shots this morning. Mostly 1/2 back swings.

Nothing fancy about this shot. i setup normal. One piece take away 1/2-3/4 back, then a quick transition back to the ball with a hip turn included. I finish the the swing follow through a bit more tha 1/2 way up.

Hips are square to targeted landing area at my finish.

. To add a little more control I will choke down on the club  an inch or two.

I also move the ball back in my stsnce a ball width from normal.

Some days I will aim a little left of my intended targeted area.

It's a low flying shot with lots of roll after the carry. The firmer the fairway, the fsrther the  ball will roll.

I use it from under trees, to get out of fairway divots, thin lies, or if I just want ro run the ball up on the green from the fairway. Other times I will use it as a quick band aid when my normal swing is causing me grief. I have finished many rounds just playing this shot from tee to green. It saves me strokes when needed

Depending on which club I might use, up to about 150 yards is my "quality shot" limit with a good roll after the ball touches down. I can go farther with a longer club, but the reward is probably  much less than 50/50.

A whole bunch of Tour Edge golf stuff......

Day 15:

range day with only a few shots being full shots. Worked on elbow close tongethr feel to try and get more on plane. A lot of slow swings, and actually did ok with my irons. The feel didn’t seem to work too well for my woods though. I’ll keep plugging away.

DAY 374    Stuck at home today, so I used my shortened 5 iron to take practice swings, working on my backswing and impact position.  Hope to get out tomorrow, if the rain holds off.

Day 337

Just a bit chilly this morning with a north breeze cooling things off even more.

Practiced my bunker sand shots this morning, sort of. Actually I was gardening. The practice bunker is severely neglected by the course maintence crew. No one really uses it, so no one complains anout it. So, I decided to hit the weeds out of it, as a warm up.

From there it was 60 yard shots to a practice pin. No particular reason for a 60 yard practice. Just happened to be the distance to flag from my trolly. Focus was on body alignment, posture, and the club face aimed at my intermediate target.

Next was a few chip/putts. Focus was on green reads for both the chips and putts. Also hitting my landing area with the chips. I was also looking for a lot of one putts.

Probably play 9 holes later today. Not much else going on.

Day 16:

Tuesday is usually my short game day, but with perfect wether and a longer lunch break to kill time I hit the range instead of the practice green. Very encouraging day today. I have noticed during my slow swing practice days that even when I am working on something else I tend to get my weight over my toes (so much easier to pick up on during slower swings!) during the downswing which I think is contributing to me being Shankapotamos these days. I placed my range basket just outside my ball and hit balls feeling like my weight was transferring to the outside of my left foot in transition. I hit one actual shank today. A few heel shots early on, and then really nothing worse than some pushes and a few mean pulls. Mostly very playable and actually good golf shots. I am not claiming victory yet, but It sure was nice to have such a productive session and feel what sweet spot contact felt like again. I even removed the range basket feedback aid for 10 balls or more and the good shots continued. excited to keep using this practice method.

Day 144

Orange Whip® workout and some other work outs to make sure I first move left then turn the hips so that it all ends up as one fluid motion.  Also some exercises to keep head down and body from popping up. No hitting the small round objects except for putts from 8'.

Day 294 - December 4, 2018 - Another good practice session working on the elbow and wrist in transition. I'm feeling good about the backswing; it's still a bit long which I can slow down to fix, and feel like it's a 3/4 swing, but it gets to a good spot.

DAY 375   Great weather so no better way to spend it than being in the practice area getting better.   I worked on my swing with a 7 iron and wedge focusing on Keys #1 and #2 for about 90 minutes.   I hit it horribly....  in reflection I can tell that my swing issues today were caused by a tightness in my lower back.  I just could not turn much, so everything was an arm swing or a sway back and through.   Good learning.  Just should have paid attention to the issue when I was warming up.

Then went to the putting green to focus on shorter putts (3-5 feet).  Started by hitting 20 putts in  a row through the narrowest setting on the Pelz Putting Tutor.  Made it through on my first try... so I know the ball is going where I aim it.  Then set up 5 tees around the hole, and had to go around twice without missing a putt before advancing to the next distance...  I made it through 3, 4, and 5 feet, before my wife called me and I needed to head home.

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.
