"5 Minutes Daily" Practice Challenge

iacas

Recommended Posts

8 reps with a minute pause in between full swing reps with a couple less aggressive warmup reps. Stretching hamstrings. Working on slow movements through the transition. Tai Chi slow with weight shift incorporated into movement. Also keeping the lead wrist well pronated. Full coil backswing, lead arm straight getting past parallel. I have to focus on retaining the C-spine posture. Used a roller to work the upper back/shoulders, lats, glutes and calve muscles.

Was bad yesterday and ate some Thai food which tastes really salty to me now, and a couple cookies. So, still at 210 :-P

Driving range yesterday evening off a "soft mat". Hit pretty decent shots. My5i and 4i are finally coming along. Hopefully, in another 2 months I'll be able to hit them without any apprehension.

I hit about 160 balls yesterday, but it was cold and I just wanted to stay warm. . .

Day 334:

Did my path and first move down drill with my new 9-iron today. Forgot how tiny the heads on blades are in comparison to my EXi's. However, I was able to complete both drills without any bad mis-hits. I actually have been practicing with my V-blades recently that have a similar blade length to my CBX blades.

Day 28 - Light stretching with some easy swings together. I'm a bit stiff from two days of workouts with afternoon net sessions. I'm not getting any younger!

DAY 90    Spent 15 minutes on the practice green working on distance control.   Then warmed up on the range before playing golf today at Golden Hills Golf and Turf Club, formerly Ocala National.  I shot 80 -- I hit 11 GIR but could NOT make a putt.  Ended up with 37 putts!!  Only hit 50% of the Fairways -- GRRR!!  Hit 11 GIR...      My ball-striking was inconsistent...  to say the least, though I hit a lot of good shots, did not take any double bogies, unfortunately I had one 6 on the card -- still trying to become a member of the No 6s on the Card Group.   Next week I get two chances when I play both courses at World Woods.   Now time for dinner and then fire up my KPlayer for more practice.

Day 59. Too bad we can't back date. I'be  be on day 2K something...

Today was chipping, pitching, and putting day.

Worked on address, swinging with a shoulder rocking stroke, green reads, and hitting my landing areas. All C&P shots were with my AW, and/or my LW.

Worked with various lies, such as ball above/below my feet. Also some uphill/downhill sloping lies.

Some flop shots were in order too.

Even hit a few out of a sun baked bunker.

Putting was limited to putts after the chip/pitch shots. Some more green reads too.

A whole bunch of Tour Edge golf stuff......

Rainy day, so no clubs... stuck indoors.

10 minutes of mirror work practicing positions from backswing, to transition into down swing emphasizing the feels associated with getting my weight to the front side, and finally focusing on turning all the way thru the shot and not "stalling" ... again, no clubs here, just positions.

Day 26 - February 28, 2018 - Slow motion swings in the basement working on a little more rolling of the forearms to not have the sweet spot quite so far out, and continuing to let the elbow have some freedom from my side.

Day 59

15 minutes of putting working on bead and speed. I took a different tack today, using an old putter I picked up at Goodwill. It is a Wilson Tour Special II, forged. It is a heel shafted flanged blade, similar to an 8802, and also similar to another putter I used off and mostly on for 35 years. It has a very slight offset, maybe less than half-shaft. For some reason I have an affinity to this style putter, maybe because I am left eye dominant and right handed. Sounds good anyway, but more likely because of familiarity.

I may give this one a whirl on the course.

Day 3:

So tempting looking at the putting green but not open. I did a quick range session. worked on wedge trajectory. Lots of hands forward pitch shots. Then tried a drill folding the right arm on the back swing. It worked well for the short irons but not for the long irons or driver.

Lost a little weight, feel better at 209. Might be a spike, but it's down.

Day 27

Hit the range, getting ready for golf on Monday. Worked on short game, only hit 2 clubs (54 and 58) for an hour. Flighting it low, mid, and high. It was a windy day so you can really see the difference between high and low.

Just some fast swings today without a ball on video ~10 minutes. Made smooth back swings, and exploded from there. Finished up with a few minutes on pitching.

Day 60

20 minutes putting 3-7 feet. I hit 12-15 putts from 3 feet on the metal ruler.  Then several from varying distance without the ruler. Working on aim, and on making the same type of stroke from varying distances, just a little longer or shorter as distance dictates.

Day 16 - lag putting down the hall at work today for speed work. Aside from missing GIR, the is my biggest weakness. If I could only get my speeds right on the longer lags!

    • I did read the fine print tonight. It said replace with “similar features & function”.  8 yeas ago my purchase had features that today are available on the lower end models and the current version of my model has more “bells & whistles” than what I got 8 years ago.  So I am thinking they honored the agreement and I can’t argue the offer. since getting a credit for the full purchase price all I am really out over the past 8 years was the cost of the extended warranty, which was less than a low end  treadmill would have cost me. now the question is which model to replace with.  I’ll stay with Nordic Track or I forfeit the $1,463 credit so I will get Nordic Track.  And they honored the warranty and were not hard to work with which is a plus.
    • Generally speaking, extended warranties are a terrible deal and should almost always be avoided. They are a huge profit center for the companies that offer them, which should tell you almost everything you need to know about how much value most consumers get when purchasing them.  This is correct, and the old adage applies - only buy insurance when you can't afford the loss. This usually doesn't apply to most consumer goods.  To your second question, no I don't believe the offer is fair. They are replacing it, but it is not being replaced at "no cost to you". Since the amount being disputed (over $500) is non-trivial, I would probably push the issue. Don't waste your time on the phone with a customer service agent or a supervisor. They have probably given you all they have the authority to do. Rather, I would look at the terms of your agreement and specifically legal disputes. The odds are you probably agreed to binding arbitration in the event of a dispute. The agreement will outline what steps need to be followed, but it will probably look something like this.  1. Mail the Nordic Track legal department outlining your dispute and indicate you are not satisfied with the resolution offered.  2. Open up a case with the AAA (American Arbitration Association), along with the required documentation. 3. Wait about 4-5 weeks for a case to be opened - at which point someone from Nordic Track's legal department will offer to give you the new model at no cost to you.  They certainly don't want to spend the time and energy to fight you over $500. 4. Enjoy your new Nordic Track at no cost to you. I recently entered binding arbitration against a fairly large and well known company that screwed me over and refused to make it right. In my demand letter, I made a pretty sizeable request that included compensation for my time and frustration. Once it hit their legal department, they cut me a check - no questions asked. It was far cheaper to settle with me than to send their legal team to defend them in the arbitration.
    • I never thought of looking at it on multiple purchases like you said.  Yes, the extended may help me on 1 or 2 items but not the other 5 or 6.
    • Day 84 - Forgot to post yesterday, but I did some more chipping/pitching.    Back/neck were feeling better today, so I did a much overdue Stack session.
