Day 8

Expanded Gold Flex workout 1 step up from yesterday, did core strength.

Worked on 5 wood today, used alignment stick for ball placement in stance.  Need to get this down for the upcoming season as I was all over the place in 2020.

Focused as well on 60/50/100 with straight soft trail arm.  Center face contact is improving and becoming more consistent but still have a long way to go.

Day 15 - got to work with the net some today with the driver, 7iron and 50*.   Focused on making consistent contact, about 60 shots total.  Also about 30 mins of pitch/chip work around the yard with the grandson in tow...he loves to pretend to carry the "portend" water hazards or go over the long tulip tree.  Wild thing is watching his ball flight from behind - kid has a wonderful natural baby draw.....

Day 401

Have a lesson in a week, and it's not clear if my priority piece is going well or not. Recent rounds and practices have been rough with regards to ball striking, really not knowing where the ball is going to go. But I've felt like this before, and usually at some point things click and start coming together.

Went back and reviewed some notes from previous lessons and hit some balls with those concepts and was hitting it pretty well. Then worked on my current priority piece with lots of slow rehearsals between balls and started to feel some progress. Still not great.

Day 18 (of last 19, 5 in a row) - Kind of an unstructured day of swinging.  Trying to feel the different things I've been working on.  I think I'm getting to a good place in at least understanding how I'm attempting to put together my swing, and how to make alterations from swing to swing.  Hopefully soon I'll get back to my swing thread and get a priority piece defined.

Day 387 - January 20, 2021

Got a very strong massage today on my shoulders, so even though I felt nice and loose… I… just did some putting. Supposedly I'll be sore tomorrow? But we'll see.

DAY 48 January 20.   Worked through 9 drills from the Tour 25 Blueprint Challenge in preparation for playing a round of golf tomorrow (2 plus hours)  and then headed to the putting green where I worked on short putts with the STAR Drill, and then putts from 20 and 30 feet... 20 in a row into a 3 foot circle around the hole... and I was done.

Day 8

Stepped up Gold Flex routine from yesterday with the continual build thru the week.  Stretching but I am feeling the need to increase some.

Focused on 60/50/100 & straight soft trail arm with 5 wood and Driver, used alignment sticks. Hit 25 balls with the Driver and 15 with the 5 Wood.

Noticed ball contact with the Driver consistently high on the face??

Day 16 - played a round today.  Focused on consistent driver strikes - used the powder foot spray which helps provide immediate feedback.  Also the work on the net over the past few days seems to have helped with ball striking across the board.  Wedge play was so-so, more work needed there.

Day 17 - did some slow swing mapping Day 30 of the COVID-19's as well as a few mins of the Day 5 ("Delivering the clubhead") drill. Now at the office and have done 10 mins of Blast putting work. Rhythm is getting more consistent (on a high traffic, "higher stimp" carpet), but admittedly not practiced much on an actual green.

Day 9

Morning, hit 10 ball with my Driver, it did not go well

Evening - did Gold Flex work out with a step up in activity, did core.  Added extra stretching

worked on 60/60/100 with irons, I also put blue tape down to check for contact points. Hit 7,8,9 & 2 Utility 10 balls each.  Did not go well

Just a bad day of contact all around, feels like I know nothing about this game

Day 17 - got to do a practice round today.  Working to continue developing a repeatable driver.  Overall - ball striking was not as consistent yet I was in the fairway just as often.  Iron play was decent while fairways suffered.  Putting - worked on keeping the eyes looking down and not chasing the ball once struck....not easy as "eye" want to see it go in.

Day 19 (missed 1 and 7 days ago) - Missed posting yesterday despite practicing.  2nd so far since starting.  Need to be perfect for the next 3 weeks if I'm going to hit my goal of keeping it active all year.

Today, was partial swings with the smart ball.

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
