Day 424 - February 25, 2021

Real good 45-minute session today. Cheated a bit and started working on the transition because I'm going to play a little golf next week. Just a subtle little throw behind… that's all it takes.

Day 438:

Did some indoor putting and COVID-19 day-3 backswing drills today. And also put grips on my new irons, but that doesn't count as practice.

Day 4 (actually;  yesterday, 2/24 was if we are just counting days I practice, but I neglected to post, so today's day 4 and I have a missed day already):  40 minutes putting on a real green this evening.  Finished with an around-the-clock drill from 6' ( someone finally put a cup not right at the edge).  Took me 38 putts to finish all 12, not great.

Day 50 - Blast putting in office for rhythm and speed control at varying distances. I appreciate the Blast recommendation; the while I think it's easy to be mislead by on-office putting performance, I do see an improvement in consistency of my distance control/speed when I go to the practice greens like yesterday.

Day 135: Worked on my priority piece with driver and 6 iron. Tried to work the feel of not extending at A4 to A6. I seem to come off the wall early in the downswing. I am going to build a training aid for this.

Finished with SuperSpeed. Oddly, my driver speed is improving, but I seem static with the blue shaft.

Day 52 (Feb 26) - Got to play today (very windy, front coming in). Okay round - realized how much I tend to shut down when swinging the 5 and 6 irons.  Got home and worked on drills to rotate through - choked up on the grip to shorten the club during the drill.  More accurate and better rotation through the swing.

Day 425 - February 26, 2021

About 63 minutes. Wasn't going great early, or in the middle much, but I turned it around at the end. Stayed "into" the right hip, which kept my levels good, and felt a shorter arm motion.

Day 439:

Felt a little sluggish/fatigued all day, maybe due to yesterday's Covid-19 vaccine. Did some full swing work with 7-iron; first some Covid-19 day-5 drills, and then some full swings with Covid-19 day-3 backswing drills between each ball. Muscle strain in around the left side of my collarbone seems to have gone away, so hope to get back to superspeed next week.

Day 10! 

1. Backswing work A1 to A2 feeling the weight shift to my right foot. Did ball drill, pushing the ball back after weight shift. 
2. Make backswing with left wrist facing away from me. Feels facing down at the ground from A1 to A2.

Day 5, more putting.  I have a tournament tomorrow.  Unlike the past few days of practice, this evening's putting was not as encouraging, although the week collectively was.  I still feel like I'm cramming for a test, which I know I tell people not to do.

Day 136: Worked on chipping and chipping aim while literally waiting for paint to dry. Did short chips of around 12 feet and tried to hit a ball at the other end as if trying to hole out. Then hit longer chips into a net with a target strap to aim at.

Day 53 (Feb 27 2021) - wedge work (PW, GW, SW, LW) in the back yard today - focused on making solid chips with each - sets of 4 balls w/ea wedge using same stroke length and finish.  Finished with some pitches focusing on the bounce...

Day 440:

Still a little bit of lingering fatigue, I suppose from Covid-19 vaccination two days ago, but mustered up the energy to hit some full swing shots today. Used Mevo to get distances for my new irons. Didn't feel like going through the entire set, so just hit 20 balls each with 5-, 7-, and 9-iron. New clubs are getting about 10-15 yards more on decent strikes compared to the old set. I'll probably have to find some time to re-do my shot zones at some point, but this will be good for my round tomorrow.

Day 6.  Played fourball, lost 2&1.  Hit the ball well, drove it much better than I usually do, putted better than Sunday but not as good as I'd have liked.   Made two putts over 10' during the round, so that was cool.

    • A first for me as I played 36 today - flying solo (used a golf cart as my foot would not let me walk that far) so it was pretty quick playing. This was at the other local course that I will spend a lot of time at this year.  Rd 1 was an 88 (45/43, 7/14 fairways, 37 putts) - big takeaway, driver was consistent, putting okay - greens are still lumpy, bumpy, irons inconsistent). Rd 2 was a 93 (46/47, 10/14 fairways, 34 putts) complete with a birdie on 2. Putting was more consistent.  With the course’s greens in less than optimal shape, approaches bordered on serious pin hunting. Side note - played up one set of tees in 2nd rd - to see if there would be a significant score change.  Overall an enjoyable time of working through shot scenarios and seeing what worked and what didn’t.  
    • Splitting a towel is like splitting a baby. They'll have to have a sudden death playoff. Guessing he streamed it on his phone via the Masters app.
