Day 14:

A little bit of work with driver, but without balls because my tee4life practice tee broke (new one coming). Did some backswing work with 4-iron and 7-iron, hitting punchy shots into the net.

Day 638: I’ve been messing up the number. Went to NK range to try and figure out what the issue was yesterday. I worked on my drill for a bit then really focused on alignment.

Day 13: 7/28/2022

Woke up early and played Bent Tree this morning with another gentleman. Very enjoyable round. I was a little bit all over the place. Stripe a drive down the middle one hole, take out a tree on the right on the next, then on the left for the next hole. Putting was kind of that way as well. 3-putted 2 of the first 5 greens from inside maybe 15 feet. (oops) But I also got hot on the back nine and 1-putted 5 times.

Damned near eagled 14. Hit my approach to less than 2 inches. Talk about a low stress birdie. Followed that up with an 8 on the very next hole. So, yeah, fun. But I was kind of all over the place.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 3:

1. I did one hand, A2 length swing drills with a driver, teed up. Foam balls first then real balls.  Had never tried this before. Followed it with the same length swing and same club, 2 hands. I find this helps me with awareness of what a good takeaway is, and what hand/wrist action feels like early in the swing.

2. I went to A3 length swings, again driver, ball teed up of course.

3. I finished one simulator round and began a second one. I swung the clubs at about 80" of my usual swing speed and effort, and had very good striking for me.

Day 272 - Did a shot by shot review of yesterday's round and identified common problems which need work. Will plan upcoming practice sessions, and will revise my game planning, based on this analysis.

Today did on 9 to 3 swings with my 27* hybrid out of various lies in my yard as work on improving shots out of the rough and recovery shots with this club. Used AlmostGolf balls in the yard and will use real ones at my next range session.

Day 144.  I played fourteen holes of pretty good golf today, no birdies but eight over for those fourteen.

To answer the obvious follow-up question, I played eighteen holes of golf today and was sixteen over.

Day 4:

More of the same...A2-ish length swings with the driver, practicing early plane and face control. Then lengthening that into A3 swings basically, and tracking ball flight and face angle. Again I began with foam balls and then moved to regular balls.

After this, I tried to do some swing transition work, in accordance with my lesson I had about 6 weeks ago. I swing to the top, and then make the transition thinking that the grip/handle of the club comes "out earlier" (that was the phrase the teacher used; normally in transition I have this little move that makes the club handle drop deeper behind me, and then the first part of the downswing ends up being steep). The exaggeration is thinking that you point the handle perpendicular to the target line, and move it parallel to the ground in that direction, then swing down and swing the handle left.

This produces alot of very very weird contact and ball direction, so I did it with no ball at first, and then moved to foam balls. I tried a couple of swings with real balls but got weird results so I reverted back to dry swings. The point of practicing this at the moment is not to go for perfect ball contact. It's to try to learn the motion and not worry where the ball goes or how it's hit. Eventually as the motion is learned, I learn to find the ball with that motion again.

It's hard to do BOTH this and the hand/impact zone training drills I do at the same time. So I don't try. For now anyway.

Lots of slow motion transition stuff. A bit more shoulder lift early in the backswing, too.

Day 273 continued: Putting wasn't as off as I thought as a gained 2.98 strokes versus a 20 tonight. Short game definitely needs work, however as I lost 2.74 strokes to a 20.

Day 14: 7/29/2022

I played 18 this morning with my boss. It was bad ... very bad.

I hit more heel shots and hosel rockets then should be possible.

I've decided to completely forget about it and pretend it never happened.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 145.  I hit two dozen balls with the following routine.  First, I carefully took my grip and then stood where I believe I should be standing.  There was a note in my recent Evolvr feedback about my stance that needed correcting, and I followed that.  I then addressed the ball, adjusting where I was standing as necessary (and if I did so, I went back to the careful stance portion).  I took the club back to A2, careful not to adjust my right leg (this action is exaggerating because my tendency at the moment is to almost immediately straighten).  I went back to address and repeated, then back to address again.  If I was successful with the two, I then did a "full" backswing (my backswing is shorter than it used to be, something we were working on quite a bit) and hit the ball.  All told, the two dozen balls took more than half an hour to hit.  I had time, not a ball count to deal with, and spent the time well.

Day 146.  I played a skins game with two friends today (a third joined us but did not participate).  I focused on the setup pieces on my most of my shots (I forgot a few times, once disastrously).  I played the par-5s with three pars and a birdie, so that was cool :-)

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
