Day 143: quick range session. Worked on backswing and set up stuff. Filmed to check where I am. I need to feel very steep in the backswing to get where I want to be.

Day 219 (7 Dec 24) - Frosty morning, got out in the backyard for a few moments to work with the 54 and very short up and down chips (10yds or less), moved to the 58 for some open the face flops (not a shot I hit very often) and finished with nice little bump and run 9irons….focused on stance, preset hip turn and keeping my head in the shot….fun part of the drill was I made it where my target zone was an area where the frost had burned off - which kept the landing zone and hitting zones moving.

Day 4:

Played 18. After a 2+ week golf break and not really practicing much, it wasn't awful, which I guess is a positive.

Day 69 - 2024-12-08

Nice. 🙂 Backswing work with the hinging. Feels like I start back with a shift-turn and a little lift, then just pick the club up in the air. Then I'm done. Small, and simple.

Day 220 (8 Dec 24) - Had a 5 hr slot between church services and kids Christmas program rehearsal - so with temps moving to low 60’s it was a great afternoon to walk nine.  Opted to do the five club challenge from the red tees - 7w, 5h, 7i, 9i and Putter. Goal was to come out 4 over max or a score of 40.  Started well with 7w off the tee.  Laying about 50 yds to the pin - time for the 9i and an easy pitch that I underplayed so instead of looking at birdie I am hoping for an up and in par.  Nope - bogie.  So lesson one - with only 5 clubs, you have to rethink how you attack the greens - point taken.  Over the next few holes - lesson two comes into play - don’t get try to cute with the 9i when chipping or making short pitches - keep it simple and plan on roll out.  Making the turn - lesson three comes into play - stay in the shot and play to comfortable distances for the approach shot.  Result - three pars in a row.  Kinda liking having 1/3 set.  One of my playing partners commented no need to hit driver when you’re hitting the 7w so solid. Worst hole was on the only GIR hole that was a 3-putt bogie.  How did I finish?  7 over 43 and a very good session of course management based on shot planning.

Day 1: 12/10/2024

I've actually been practicing and working on my game, but now it's time to start this challenge again.

I'm coming off a great lesson yesterday with Yoda, ... a bit too technical though 🤣

So, today I spent like a half hour in front of the mirror working on something I'm going to call PPJ. It's kind of my new priority piece. My plan is to work on it in front of a mirror for a little while until it feels a little less foreign (could be a couple days, could be a month). Then I'll take it to the garage and hit balls into the net again, perhaps a week, perhaps longer.

Then finally I'll take it to the range and see how that goes. My thought is to avoid any focus on where the ball goes for a while. I don't want to make any adjustments to the movement based on ball flight, either consciously or subconsciously unit I get the movement closer to the way I want it.

That's the plan anyway.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 221 (10 Dec 24) - missed posting yesterday, though I had a good session of bump and runs, chipping with Pw and 9i, oh well…today was about full swings with the 6 & 7 irons hitting the hard foam balls.  Again the focus was on setup, ball position and swing tempo.  Like the challenge of hitting from varied lies.

Day 71 - 2024-12-10

I spent three minutes trying to figure out when someone started calling me Yoda, even though he remains the only person to call me Yoda… then in a hotel room, I spent ten minutes while watching the 2019 Masters on YouTube (the TV doesn't have Golf Channel) working on my wrist conditions.

Day 2: 12/11/2024

Today I spent another half hour or so in front of the mirror working on my PPJ. I still feel like an orangutan performing brain surgery with a hack saw. It's a big departure from the way I had been timing my moves in the past.

Here's a quick video of my practicing.
