Wonder if he committed before this round or he's thinking it's not going too well, let's get a spot in.

He had until the completion of play today (not the completion of the second round) to commit, I think I read. Maybe he gave Steiny a signal after a few holes to commit, or maybe they timed it to be when he was on the course so they wouldn't ask about it beforehand.

Are you guys ready for Jack to talk about the Bear trap all next weekend?

Jeez, the Genesis Open isn't even a corpse yet, let alone buried. ;-)

When I think "Honda Classic" the first thing that comes to mind is the Cavity-Back 350.  Or the 305; but that was a little bit before my time.

In der bag:
Cleveland Hi-Bore driver, Maltby 5 wood, Maltby hybrid, Maltby irons and wedges (23 to 50) Vokey 59/07, Cleveland Niblick (LH-42), and a Maltby mallet putter.                                                                                                                                                 "When the going gets tough...it's tough to get going."

This thread became more interesting than the Genesis one the instant Tiger said he'd play it after missing the cut. :-P

Tiger will have to do something about his long game if he hopes to play four rounds next week. He lost shots to the field both rounds, which can have affected his play on and around the greens. I've seen him putt worse when he's constantly needing 3-4 shots to find the green in the first place.

Off the tee: -2.111, 128 (rank in field).
Approach to the green: -0.987, 101

Putting: 0.090, 67 (+2 one day and -2 the next)

Driving accuracy: 46.43%, T87

My guess is Tiger fares better back home in Florida (yes, I know he grew up in SoCal) than he did in Cali. The driver has to get worked out either way, but I would think the familiarity and comfort he has playing in Florida might get a little more of a groove going. Seeing him out there is a good thing regardless of where it is, but I didn't think much good would come from playing Riviera...even in his prime it never seemed like a course that he was super comfortable on.

@iacas - can you add a poll to this thread?

Tiger makes/misses the cut

I remember when the excitement was if Tiger would win (again), now it is will he play the weekend. Here is to hoping he plays 4 days, but I wouldn't make a bet on it.

Players play, tough players win!

I don't watch the PGA much, but it seems like "top" players miss the cut every week. I'm hoping Tiger just played poorly at Riviera more than his game being in trouble. I guess it's hard to say with just two tournaments under his belt.

I'm not sure these Florida courses are that friendly to wild drives.

No disagreement there. He’s got some serious issues to work out with the driver, I just think being on familiar turf can sometimes help at the margin.

yeah boiiiiiiiiii another even with Tiger in it!!!

I thought he looked better with the driver this event. Numbers bear that out, I believe. He got away with a lot of bullshit at Torrey because he putted and chipped like the hole was eleven feet wide.

I think a lot of his problems boil down to competitive rust and fatigue. He'll compete.

For non-related Tiger stuff--

I love this tournament. I love the whole CaliFlorida swing. Really does a nice job setting up for the Masters. I'm always happiest at the beginning of the season. It all feels so fresh and new!

Hope Rory finally puts it together in the States this year, and gets a win. Feeling good about him now that he's healthy.

If tearing means driving it into the rough and ripping the rough apart, you might be correct.

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? TIGER WOODS' AMATEUR VICTORIES YEAR WIN(S) 1984 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1985 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1988 Boy's 11-12 Junior World Golf Championships   1989 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships   1990 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships, Insurance Youth Golf Classic   1991 U.S. Junior Amateur, Boys 15–17 Junior World Golf Championships, Orange Bowl International Junior Look at some other AJGA Players of the Year. • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
