Taking A Break - A Form of Practice?

I think so.  Fly fishing is my #1 sports passion and I find many parallels with it and golf - particularly with tempo & timing.  When I get to those points with my golf game where I start over analyzing and getting frustrated, I'll take a break and fish.

I think the word is consolidation. When you sleep, whatever you try and learn from say school, sports, music, etc, the body/mind helps build on whatever it is you're trying to learn. I would guess rest in addition to sleep is a form of consolidation.

I would not say that taking a break is a form of practice. If you are like me and have taken long breaks of many years, it is certainly the opposite of practice.

But I do think taking breaks can be helpful in not burning yourself out, waiting until you really want to play again, and long term keeping the love of golf alive. So not 'practice', but beneficial to some degree.
