I get the sense that after the Master's everyone has a massive golf hangover and the RBC Heritage is the golf equivalent of a buddy putting a beer under your nose hoping to get you to throw up.

However, my wife is leaving town Sunday morning so I can watch the final round uninterrupted.

Not too many BIG names in the field.  World #1 DJ will be teeing it up, as well as Kuchar and Snedeker (my personal favorites), The Hat, and part-time private eye, William McGirt are playing as well.

Also the field consist of  "TWO Love's"

Davis lll and Davis lV
Would be interesting if they would be paired together.

I never realized Davis's son had or has played in tour events.
Wonder how he obtained entry to the RBC?

Gotta be a sponsor exemption, right?  The only Love listed in PGA Tour's player directory is Davis Love III.

I'll be impressed if we pass two pages.

The weather's supposed to hit mid-70s Saturday and then plunge back into the 40s on Sunday.  I can't decide if I'll play on Sunday or not.

Yeah this tournament doesn't move the needle much for a lot of people, but I do appreciate the shot shaping required to get around this golf course...

I always think of this tournament winner as the "kicking himself for not playing better last week" champ.

It's always a good tournament when Boeing does a fly-over!  Considering it's timing with The Masters, the RBC Heritage seems to put on a good showing most years.  It will be interesting to see if DJ plays a little more like #1 than last week?

I like this tournament. the main reason is I have played there so it's always nice to watch the big boys tee it up somewhere where you have some familiarity.  Also, it's a different kind of golf course from the week to week courses these guys play. It's not all that long at just under 7100 yards and it's tight. Plus the 18th hole is something special. That green looks normal size on TV but it's not that big. When you are playing it it looks like a postage stamp surrounded on three sides by wetland.

Very tight! I was looking at the course via google maps yesterday, and I am not sure I would have anything more than a mid Iron off the first tee to even have most of my shot zone not in the trees lol.

Yeah, you can't spray it that's for sure. I mean it's not as bad as it looks on tv, but you get a lot of overhanging branches that get in the way as well. You end up having to hit a lot of low shots. The problem with hitting low shots is the greens are pretty small so you have to run them on as its hard to get anything low to stop on them.

I don't think TV does it justice because you can hit it in the fairway and be blocked out by tree branches so you have to hit a lot of cuts and hooks, I think it's a fun course to play. Your not gonna hit many drivers. It's got some great par 3's.

TV doesn't do a lot of courses justice. I mean Augusta National is completely different in person.

And you are right, it's not the trunks of the trees that are the biggest issue, it's the canopies. When I played there it seemed like I was always under branches so I had to manipulate my trajectory in some way. It's a cool course though, I had a lot of fun when we played it.

I always quite like this tournament - I tend to think of it as the Poulter/Donald tournament, as they always seem to play well round Harbor Town. At least one of them's managing to do that... Nice to see something from Si Woo Kim as well after a quiet spell post Players' victory.

I doubt I'll watch that much - I watched way too much of the Masters and got a Sunday afternoon golf hangover... Need to remedy that for next year.

Currently focusing on: Key 4 - shorter backswing.

What's in the bag: Callaway X2 Hot Driver, Titleist 915F 3 wood, X2 Hot 3 Hybrid, 3, 5-AW Apex Pro irons, 54*, 58* Cleveland RTX, Odyssey Versa 1 Putter

I have the TV on and ... did I see Rory Sabbatini wearing a forward-brim hat?  I thought with his skin condition scare a few years ago he was dedicated to wearing only wide-brimmed hats.

    • If it's not broken don't fix it. If you want to add grooves to it just because of looks that's your choice of course. Grooves are cut into putter faces to reduce skid, the roll faced putter is designed to do the same thing. I'm no expert but it seems counter productive to add grooves to the roll face. Maybe you can have it sand-blasted or something to clean up the face. Take a look at Tigers putter, its beat to hell but he still uses it.
    • I get trying to limit relief to the fairway, but how many roots do you typically find in the fairway? Our local rule allows for relief from roots & rocks anywhere on the course (that is in play). My home course has quite a few 100 year old oaks that separate the fairways. Lift and move the ball no closer to the hole. None of us want to damage clubs.
    • Hello, I've been playing a Teardrop td17 F.C. putter for many years and love it. It still putts and feels as good or  better than any of the new putters I've tried and it's in excellent condition except the face has dings in it ever since I bought it used that kind of bother me. I was just wondering if it's possible to have some really shallow horizontal grooves milled into the face on a "roll face" putter. I think I would rather spend some money on it instead of trying to get used to a new putter.  Thanks
    • I agree with @klineka & @DaveP043 above.  When a new member first joins the club they cold be told that they are not eligible for tournaments until they have an established HCP.  As you said, it only takes a few rounds.  If they do not to post HCP that was their choice and choices have consequences.  If playing in the tournament is important to them then they should step up and establish an HCP.  Maybe they miss the 1st tournament, is that a real big deal?  And if it is a "Big Deal" to them then they had the opportunity to establish the HCP. As for not knowing how to report for HCP I assume your club has a pro and they should be able to assist in getting the scores reported and I suspect out of state courses may also have staff that can assist if asked.
