I've got about 3 different sets of wedges laying around - what I've found is that I like a leading edge that is low to the ground - probably why an Edel 60-62 work well for me - confidence. I look down at a Vokey 60 on a tight lie, and I tighten up. Can you say "blade"? It's all in the head  because when I'm relaxed and setup correctly for the shot - I make the shot ... at the range. The course? on a tight lie? I've go to find another solution other than weight forward flop - golf is a game played in your head at a certain level when you have the physical skills but haven't overcome the mental.

Good story @Patch  I can see that and would have to laugh!

I use to have a 60.  Got it with my 52 when I started playing.  After a lot of practice I could hit it pretty good.  Like any club in your bag... if you want to hit it good, PRACTICE!!

I do 52 & 58 now as I like having the longer irons in the bag versus 3 or 4 wedges.

If you can open your wedge 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 & fully and also do 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and full shots, then the combos are endless and you now have a wedge or two that can do just about anything.

First club purchased for my Dunlop starter set was 60*  Nike wedge. I learned to use it like Picasso used he paint brush. Only using my imagination and all feel. Experimenting and trying short game shots from all over.

today it’s my only club I use from within 100 yards. I make the adjustments to suit the shot at hand and is the main reason I can keep a decent cap when my ball striking takes a vacation!

Don't be affair of the high lofts. It could be the key to unlock a new level of golf.

  • 4 weeks later...

I’m a 15 HC and have had a 60’ wedge in my bag for quite a few years. I recently upgraded my 52’ and 60’ Clevelands the new Vokey SM7’s. (52 S/8 bounce and 60 S/10 bounce). Wow. I can’t wait to swap out my 48 and 56. Amazing wedges. As for the 60... I really think it is the confidence you have in a club, any club. I know I can hit my 60 anywhere inside of about 50 yards and any bunker, and hit it well 4/5 times.

I'm a 24 HC that uses a 62 , 56, and a 51. I tend to play my wedges on the skill of most 14 or 15 HC ( decent at controlling the distance with half/  3 quarter swings) so there is that too. I got a 62 more for covering a gap in my range. I'm a long hitter and my 56 is about 120 carry. Had a hard time with that 70-95 range which is right where my 62 is with 70-100% swing

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? How many of these names do you recognize? A few, for sure. I assure y'all, I'm not trying to pee in your Cheerios. I just don't get what the point is. Okay. I get that, then. Thanks.
    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
