Thanks for the advice. I pulled the trigger on the Under Armour Storm match play bag. I've used it one a cart and carried. It's super light  to carry 18 yet big enough to hold all my junk when riding. I think I made a good choice. It may take some getting used to only having a 4 way divider (I hate club chatter) but I've been weaving a tour towel around the clubs to reduce that. So far so good.

I have gone to the cart bag. I use a push cart when I walk (which is most of the time).  I have never had any physical issues that required a push cart but it's a hell of a lot easier to push the bag around than carry it on my back. You still get all the benefits of the exercise and you can carry more stuff if you want to.

My bag:

Taylor Made R7 (x-stiff).
Taylor Made Burner 2 irons (stiff)
Cleveland Wedges (gap and 60)
Odyssey two ball putter (white)

I don't walk much anymore due to a flaky knee. In your shoes, I am thinking a stand bag is where I would go.

I like the looks of the Jones stand bags-take a look and see what you think. They are convertible between one or two strap setup. Still ok for cart or trolley use I think.

I both ride and walk with a push cart, 50/50, had a very imposing looking staff bag for about 15 years and frankly, it was a PIA (literally). It was impossible to carry because it was just so friggen heavy, and even when placed on a push cart it was a chore. It was so big that access to the side pockets, which is where the bulky things like an extra jacket and rain pants were located, were impossible to get to when in a riding cart because the bag would get squished when placed side to side with someone else's bag. Yeah, it could carry a lot of stuff, but what good is that when you can't get to it?

So I just switched to a 5 lb cart bag, a Datrek DG Lite II with 15 full length slots for clubs, an insulated cooler pocket which really works, and all the compartments face forward so are easily accessible when placed either on a golf cart or a push cart. Compared to my old bag, it's as light as a feather.

  • 1 month later...

Stand bag , I virtually always carry my bag round, but if it was 30 degrees or a 7000 yard card,  it will awkwardly attach to a trolley.

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? TIGER WOODS' AMATEUR VICTORIES YEAR WIN(S) 1984 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1985 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1988 Boy's 11-12 Junior World Golf Championships   1989 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships   1990 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships, Insurance Youth Golf Classic   1991 U.S. Junior Amateur, Boys 15–17 Junior World Golf Championships, Orange Bowl International Junior Look at some other AJGA Players of the Year. How many of these names do you recognize? A few, for sure. I assure y'all, I'm not trying to pee in your Cheerios. I just don't get what the point is. Okay. I get that, then. Thanks.
    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
    • Day 1: Spent some time hitting some balls. Working on my hips and a “soft” and straight trail arm.
    • Slight digression on the way to my point. Back in the day there were a lot of people who said that Tiger won because of “the Tiger effect” where people pushed too hard and made mistakes trying to catch him and fell by the wayside. I thought that was BS. It was just that he was that much better than them. I don’t think anything has changed my mind on that.    The hype about Miles Russell is very limited. I’ve seen nothing about him outside of some fairly hardcore golf websites. But I think that the reason those people are talking about him is because he is very good. Same as Tiger. And like I said he just broke one of Tiger’s records. That gets hardcore golf fans to pay attention.
