Tiger's birdie on #8 (his 17th of the day) is like Biff's plan from BttF2.  It's about [redacted] time.

Maybe we should merge the "Rude Golf Fans" thread into this one. JT's going to require surgery if he keeps having to pull out of his tee shots.

Second hole in a row where Justin Thomas had to bail on his swing because of some idiot with a smart phone.

This thing may be over. DJ is not the guy you want to be chasing on that golf course. Maybe some guys in the afternoon can close the gap, but my guess is that DJ is going to have to come back to the field a little this weekend to make this interesting.

Disagree. Disaster is lurking all over this course. You only have to hit one semi-loose shot and end up struggling to make double bogey. DJ has also had 36 and 54 hole leads in majors before going on to be a non-factor. Not even close to over.

Current cut line at +7, DJ at -4 means no 10-shot cutoff to consider, so I expect the cut line to end up at +8 or +9, assuming the afternoon conditions are tougher than the morning.  Tiger almost certainly out of it.

Birdie birdie finish for Tiger.  Chance to play tomorrow.  Second-most excited I've been for a putt by Tiger on the last hole of not-the-last-round but at a U.S. Open.

U.S. Open so no 10-shot rule to consider.  They don't use it anymore.

Right now the projected cut is +9. Tiger at +10 might still get to play the weekend after that finish.

He's the #1 total badass on tour right now and he's looking to add another major to his resume.

This statistic needs to be tracked more closely.  I wonder what the history of the ranking is. ;-)

But it’s his laidback demeanor that totally makes it work.

He'll probably be playing the weekend. I imagine the cutline is going to move back a stroke or two. Fox Sports is probably excited by that, but he's not going to be a factor in this tournament at all.

With many guys in that +6 range or so just starting or have yet to start I would expect the cut line to drop back to +10 and Tiger will make the cut.

A little surprised scoring not a little bit better. Scoring conditions are pretty easy. Greens are really soft and wind is light to go with really wide fairways. Jesus what would happen if they let these greens get hard and fast like they usually are?

Jordan's woes now extend beyond the putter.

It's going in the other direction. Gone from +9 to +7 in the last hour.

Nice round by Fleetwood.

IMO, the best thing that can happen to this tourney from here on (well, other than Tiger rising from the dead tomorrow...) is for DJ to blink and few other put up some red numbers (Rose maybe??) give everyone close some hope tomorrow for some excitement so that he can trounce them late Sunday afternoon.

If not, this will be a snoozefest.

It looks like there are 92 players ahead of Tiger, so he needs 32 to drop to +10 out of a group of about 60 that haven't finished. Sounds tough but I count 29 that are between him and +6 yet to finish.

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? TIGER WOODS' AMATEUR VICTORIES YEAR WIN(S) 1984 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1985 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1988 Boy's 11-12 Junior World Golf Championships   1989 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships   1990 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships, Insurance Youth Golf Classic   1991 U.S. Junior Amateur, Boys 15–17 Junior World Golf Championships, Orange Bowl International Junior Look at some other AJGA Players of the Year. How many of these names do you recognize? A few, for sure. I assure y'all, I'm not trying to pee in your Cheerios. I just don't get what the point is. Okay. I get that, then. Thanks.
    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
